When I started adding these and decided to do two per week I’d not realised Potts would come just two days after the title win.

I loved Harry but Dyche is right up there alongside him.

Not a bad first signing was it! Whilst Harry Potts inherited some very talented players, he still had to ensure they played to the best of their ability. Football is littered with managers who have failed at clubs despite inheriting very good players.
The comparison with SD is a interesting one given how different the game is now compared to when Harry Potts was manager but I think what Sean Dyche has achieved is indeed comparable to Potts' achievements. The amount of money in the game, the influence of agents, billionaire owners etc etc makes it so much more difficult for a club like Burnley to compete at an elite level.

I was born in 1955 so Harry Potts was the first manager I remember. As a young lad I never even considered us being anything other than a 1st division club. And if we didn't beat the likes of Villa or West Brom by 3 or 4 it was a bad result. Compare that to my son born in 1980 who asked me when he saw his first game in 1988 how high up the league ladder we could realistically go (he had a good grasp of words for his age)! I said a solid Championship club was what we could aspire to. Sean Dyche has exceeded both of our expectations. A long way of saying both are great managers. Difficult for me to choose between them.

Bob Lord made many decisions whilst ruling the roost, this one he got right!

Personally having lived through both these managers I think it has to go to Sean. He inherited a few good players, beg stole and borrowed to get a squad for the 2013-14 season and had to sell his number one (or two) asset in Charlie Austin at the start of a promotion season which saw us promoted from being one of the favourites to go down and he inherited a delapidated training ground. Potts took over a great set of players a state of the art training complex and a team well established at First Division level where initially wages were fixed.
IMO Sean takes number one spot even though we have won nothing like the top Division with him and nor will we.
