I forgot it was the 4th today. Then again, I didn't realise it was Monday.
Or May.

I was late into Star Wars, about 10 years after it came out and really enjoy the diversity of characters. The genius and imagination required for those multi galaxy pub scenes is really clever. I thought the Mandalorian started off the same, watched 4 episodes so far and there is a logical story to follow.

Not really - they were based on Singles Night in the White Lion, Clitheroe. Late 80s/early 90s.

The 5th dimension and Darth Vadar are closer than you think:

As much as I love the humour, Star Wars hit the big screen in 1977 so should have read the Hop, Burnley early to mid 1970's

I have never seen star wars, what is the appeal ? 77 when it was first released, not aware of other films that remain so popular as this series.

It's hard to explain really.Wile E Coyote wrote: βMon May 04, 2020 5:13 pmI have never seen star wars, what is the appeal ? 77 when it was first released, not aware of other films that remain so popular as this series.
It's just a good story, was well ahead of its time in regards to filming quality, props etc and it just captures the imagination of a lot of people from that opening sequence of A New Hope.
The way the music kicks in, the rolling text then straight into the action.
It isn't for everyone but it's pretty much guaranteed everyone knows who Vader is, or Yoda by sight by now due to marketing etc.
Amusingly some of the inspiration for SW came from the TV series Star Trek, another Sci fi story that has endured for decades, but their first film was released after SW and they'd seen how well it had done.
The only issue I've got with SW is the fan base can be pretty toxic, even worse with social media being used as a tool to target and harass cast members etc.

Anyone know where the May the 4th be with you slogan originated? Not a palatable answer for many people

... When somebody was talking at dinner with piping hot food in their mouth and they bit their tongue.

Re: Happy Starwars Day: May the 4th be with you.
The Sun probably making a Pun on Maggie winning the 1979 Election on May the 4th?...
I always thought the best Sun Pun was the Scottish Sun with.
"Super Callie go Ballistic Celtic were attrocious"
My m8 was working north of the border, and brought a Scottish Sun the day after this game, and popped it through the door one of the resident Scots in the village (who was a die hard Celtic fan) We kept it secret for months and had hours of fun in the pub taking the mickey .

The truly disturbing thing about this is that the common denominator of the two desperate venues appears to be....ME!
