Dave Greenfield

Post by Pimlico_Claret » Mon May 04, 2020 6:04 pm

Dave Greenfield, keyboard player with the Stranglers has passed away, apparently from Covid 19. One of my all time favourite bands, sadly they had to postpone their last ever tour recently. Saw them a couple of years ago, first time since I was about 16, still as good, despite no Hugh Cornwell.

One of my favourite bands so saddened to hear this news via text a few minutes ago.
Hard to pick one track from so many great albums, but as closing tracks on records go, Down In The Sewer is as good as it gets.
RIP Dave Greenfield.

Yes, very sad to hear this. Still got Rattus Norvegicus on vinyl somewhere.
Went to see them at King George's in Blackburn '77 or '78.

RIP Dave.

I left BGS in June 1977, and got called back a little later to prize giving,as I got a grade A English Language 'O' level My prize? A WH Smith gift voucher, which I used to purchase No More Heroes in gatefold picture sleeve. A great track, which I still treasure to this day. RIP Dave.

Really, really upset by this. I can barely remember a time when The Stranglers weren't on the soundtrack to my life. I Ioved them way more than any other band from the punk era and a large part of what made them so brilliant was Dave Greenfield's unique keyboard runs. I've just drunk a beer in one playing imaginary keyboards to 'No More Heroes '

R.I.P. Dave, had the pleasure to meet him once at one of the stranglers' fans conventions, a lovely guy with time for everyone, he spent time playing board games and swapping fags with fans, he even brought his pet rats along with him. Very sad loss.
