'Bone Tomahawk'

Post by Im_not_Robbie_Blake » Fri May 08, 2020 5:16 pm

Just wondered if anyone else saw this film on Film 4 a few days ago. It had rave reviews from the critics and I expected something really good. I was disappointed. I found the protracted scenes of dialogue to be really boring, and Kurt Russell very wooden. I thought some of the long scenes of nothing but dialogue were so unnecessary, and during those scenes the actors were just static, even in the saloon. The action was so slow and, if it hadn't been for the sinister feeling of impending doom conjured up by the eerie countryside itself, I might have switched it off through sheer boredom. The death scene turned out to be incredibly horrifying, with my feeling of 'surely they're not going to do what I think they're going to do' leading to something I don't ever want to see again! Overall, I would only give it 6 out of 10, but I'm interested to see what others thought of it, bearing in mind that it has such positive reviews.

I thought Bone Tomahawk was a stripper I once saw at the Tacklers in Nelson.

Best stripper I ever saw carried a lollipop.
Anybody who wanted a lick was free to oblige her !

The direction is weird, and as you say the acting is a bit wooden.
It has doomy feel right through though, which i suppose is what the director wanted.
The death seen in the cave is a real shocker1

I saw it, but really can't remember it. So guessing that means I found it unmemorable.

Nothing wooden about the stripper's routine... I can't say the same for the lads in the audience........
