Re: Lockdown hair
My hair doesn’t grow very quickly but eight weeks on for me it is growing slowly and thinly on the top of my head.
However, the beard is a different story. I don’t trim it myself and have now got a white beard that should qualify me for some work in December.

Re: Lockdown hair
Hairdressers have been the first ones to reopen here in Spain, I should know I went two days ago to have my first haircut in over two months. I had to book an appointment and wear a mask but at least I got it done: I decided to go ultra short all over just in case I don't get the chance again for a while.

I couldn't wait any longer. Two weeks ago I gave myself a number three all over.

Re: Lockdown hair
Already been opened in Germany (big rush of customers) so I doubt it'll be too long here. Protective equipment and spacing between chairs required though. https://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/cor ... -1.4896221
I'm old enough to have completely grey hair and it tends to look bad if it gets at all long. I usually have a trim every 6 weeks or thereabouts so it's way too long now. I dread getting as tatty as Bob Geldof; I'd have a bash myself with the kitchen scissors rather than that.

Re: Lockdown hair
I got my hair cut Friday 20th, just before lockdown. My hairdresser already knew she was closed down from after that weekend. She very kindly took more off than I'd usually need, so 7 weeks in I'm only now starting to think a "tidy me" would need a hair cut in a week or so's time.
My "better half" took delivery of some hair dressing scissors 2 weeks ago. She says she can cut my hair, when it's needed....
Anyone remember those "sell-cutting" razor combs? And, maybe we can introduce the younger generation to "basin cuts" - though a Number 1 has it's attractions.

Re: Lockdown hair
I like the idea of men with white beards having work to do in December. How would that work if we are still social distancing?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 12:39 pmMy hair doesn’t grow very quickly but eight weeks on for me it is growing slowly and thinly on the top of my head.

Re: Lockdown hair
Just taken delivery of a new set of rechargable clippers (£20 from Amazon) to replace my old set...
Wife cuts the straggly bits to tidy it up... around the ears... they double up as a beard trimmer too.
A number 3 every 4 weeks simples tchhhhh .

Re: Lockdown hair
Yes, though maybe the fringe could have been a little straighter!
I'd guess any primary school class photo from 1950s/1960s (early) would have 50% of the boys with basin cuts - and the rest "short back and sides."
1963/4, I remember one of my friends came to school with a "beatle cut." There was a fuss for a few days and it took some time before the teachers stopped calling him out at assembly with offers to "put a ribbon in it."

Re: Lockdown hair
My hair is the one thing I absolutely have to have maintained. It's getting long now though, my fringe reaches my chin. The rest looks relatively ok. Swept back in a pomp it's good.
33 nearly and no gray hairs. Fortunate.
Lot's of people my age have no hair or are receding. Poor lads.

Re: Lockdown hair
Started feeling scruffy a couple of weeks ago so I got out the beard clippers and gave myself a nice skin fade on the sides with a short, choppy cut on top. Had to get a bit of help with the back. I’ve honestly paid for worse hair cuts.
