Don’t mention pheasants around Mrs Watt. We are woken daily at 6.30 by one noisy blighter.

Pheasants cause more damage to your vehicle when you hit them than pigeons do. New front grill on a car when I hit one on the A1M and various damage to commercial vehicles at work - large dent in the roof of one van and a replacement screen on another when the pheasant came through the screen.

Pigeons just take a bit of cleaning up.....

Catch it. Kill it. Cook it. Eat it.

Problem solved.

I can’t. My ma used to aim for them on the Moors. Regularly bringing one home to hang around for a week. Turned my stomach.

Yeah a week is a long time to hang a pheasant. Depends how you like it but I'd only give them a couple of days strung up. If it's a hen you might get away without hanging at all or even just a day.

I always find that when I do these things, I think I've got a great score and then see everyone else has a higher score. That means:

A. People only post when they've scored well.
B. I'm a dumbass.
C. Both of the above.

For the record, I got 7/10. And I'm quite pleased with that :D

8 for me and no next to nothing about birds, so must have been a couple of good guesses among the few I actually knew

Slightly OT but quite interesting for any bird watchers.

The House Martin's returned to our house last week where they have nested for quite a few years under the eaves.
Imagine their surprise when they looked into last year's nest to find a young family of House Sparrows squawking at them.
