Accy rd roadworks
Have they still been working on this project while all this Covid 19 business goes on?
Have they made any progress?

Cycled past there yesterday and there were some workers on site, but they looked more like surveyors planning a restart.Quickenthetempo wrote: βTue May 12, 2020 10:02 pmHave they still been working on this project while all this Covid 19 business goes on?

They were at the corner of Liverpool Road and Accrington Road.
They're the first I've seen on site since the shutdown.
As for progress, not really, just setting out, making room to work etc.

90% of people are happy not working and picking up 80% wages, who would go in unless absolutely necessary.

It will be the contractor or the client (LCC) who decided to stop the roadworks, not their workers. Employees cannot furlough themselves. HTH.

Even when any roadworks are in "full swing", you never see much activity. Most of the "workers", seem either to be messing on their phone, or asleep in a van with feet on dashboard.

It would of been a boost to the town if significant progress had been made without all the disruption that occurred when they first started.
Looks like it will be nearer a 2 year project now.

I sincerely hope it's not, the additional diverted traffic around here is horrendous, particularly the heavy goods vehiclesQuickenthetempo wrote: βWed May 13, 2020 9:27 amIt would of been a boost to the town if significant progress had been made without all the disruption that occurred when they first started.

and the tossers that fly about in their huge tractors and trailers.
If the police want some extra dosh for their Christmas bash, they'll make a killing around here.

also its the council, it takes 5 of them for the most basic jobs due to health and safety, rules and regulations etc. They wont return until 110% ready and safe.
They aren't like privately owned companies who will be wanting their workers in asap making them money again, and will bend the rules to suit.
