Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Don't the match mascots get charged as well now? For some reason, the more money we've amassed as a club, the greedier we have become.
Shameful to be honest.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
I love my club, but it seems there have been some very ungrateful and rude people involved over the years to expect payments for assisting them in the ways mentioned above.
But on a different note, the foodbank suggestion looks wonderful.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Putting money into the club's coffers whilst we're in the Premier league, and sitting on millions in the bank, is like sending foreign aid to the USA
I'd vote for Pendleside but BFC in the community is also good

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
I'd split it between Pendleside and the foodbank. Both equally important.

Another vote for Food Banks and Pendleside Hospice.
I no longer live in the area but would still like the charities to be focused in and around Burnley.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
My thoughts reflect this. £2.5k to our club, regardless of the department it is destined for is an absolute drop in the ocean. Was it £35m cash in the bank when the last set of accounts were published? £2.5k to a foodbank would have a much greater impact and I would suggest received with a far higher level of gratitude that if donated to the club. You can make a meal for a family of 4 for a fiver - so the choice is between new training kit and footballs for our club, or 500 families are able to put a meal on the table. For me, it is as they say, a no-brainer.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:49 pmTo be perfectly honest, I don't think there would be any serious objections to putting the £2,500 to the Foodbank now, given what you've told us of the Club's attitude.
I stand to be corrected, but I understand the player's combined contribution to the Foodbank appeal was around £4,250 which the Club is said to have matched. This may be the " Offline donation " mentioned on the Just Giving page ( £8,500 ) .... Our wage bill for the players is upwards of £65m per annum .... I'm sure we all have a view on this ...

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Just not possible. To do that I would need permission from everyone who has contributed. Those contributions were for the youth department and as such have to go there.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:49 pmTo be perfectly honest, I don't think there would be any serious objections to putting the £2,500 to the Foodbank now, given what you've told us of the Club's attitude.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Could a just giving page or something similar not be set up specifically for the foodbank ?
With no match days for the foreseeable it would offer the chance for people out of the town to donate should they wish to. A small number donating a few quid a week/month into an account which would then allow goods to be bought and supplied by someone local could be a thought. That way you aren't just relying on fundraisers and could have a regular donation.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
No - people have donated to the youth department. Without permission from each and everyone of them then the money must go to where it was intended. It really is as simple as that.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Apologies, I have never even noticed that before
Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
I would think there are numerous great causes to give money to and some might have there own personal favorites but in today's world I think the local foodbank is an excellent choice and by committing to one it must make life easier for Tony in terms of knowing where the funds are going rather than several or even two.
Foodbank for 12 months, season start to the start of the next season, where other potential outlets for funds could be reviewed decided for the following 12 months perhaps.
We as a family will continue to support.

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Perhaps a compromise would be to donate the £2,500 money to the " Shadow Youth " development programme, which is one of the " BFC in the Community " projects .... They would then find themselves £2,500 over budget, and could make a £2,500 donation to the " Food bank " ?
The money has then gone to a Burnley FC " Youth development " project, CT's conscience is clear, and everyone's happy !!

Can I just repeat that the money already raised is for the Burnley FC Academy, not any charity.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 6:31 pmPerhaps a compromise would be to donate the £2,500 money to the " Shadow Youth " development programme, which is one of the " BFC in the Community " projects .... Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
Just an update on this.
I emailed the club on Monday, 10th August, one calendar month ago, explaining that reluctantly the decision had been made to end the fundraising for the academy and that we would, in future, be raising money for charity. I referred to the outstanding money that they were still entitled to. As yet, I've not had any acknowledgement or response to that email.

It’s like that mate that goes on to earn big money, loses interest in those that looked after him when he was nothing

Seems so - we were treated like royalty back in the day by Dobbo, Vince, Pash, Faz & Jeff Taylor.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 2:29 pmIt’s like that mate that goes on to earn big money, loses interest in those that looked after him when he was nothing

Re: Advice on UTC fundraising
My opinion FWIW is similar to others, i.e. split between foodbanks and Pendleside Hospice. The Hospice has given brilliant end of life care to many clarets over the years and really needs support.
