Toothache....

Post by tim_noone » Sat May 16, 2020 6:07 pm

Why does it start Friday in time for the weekend ? The full works regards pain.. compulsory 24 hours and counting. And why are pain killers called pain killers when clearly they're no such thing...aaaagh!!

I had it that bad once whilst abroad I looked like elephant man with the swelling. I visited 5 dentists around Germany and England in 5 days, I was away with work and I was in Stuttgart airport and it’s the worst pain I’ve ever been in. The dentist who I visited on the Monday was gob smacked at my neck and face swelling. I always said if I’d had a gun I’d have probably shot myself

A German dentist sorted mine and my wifes teeth out last summer in Spain, cost a few Bob but worth every penny. I paid 30% less for my 5 and wifes 12 crowns than I would have had in the UK.
UK dentist have butchered my teeth over the years, I will be very apprehensive at letting them lose on mine or wifes peggys in the future

(Still in pain) I had treatment last year and had a top plate fitted went reasonably well private.while I'm happy with my nhs practice I had two lengthy sessions doing root canal on a tooth as he couldn't find? What he was looking for first time. Neither did he the second time .I've had mainly some horrendous experiences over the years &I can count on two fingers the good experiences I've had if I'm being honest.

Could be a dental abscess, barbwire pullthru, I’ve had 1 on a wisdom tooth eventually extracted, a conjunction of co-dydramol & metronidazole & naproxen worked a treat, I saved some of the metronidazole for a rainy day as soon as the pain eased.

They are excellent if you think it’s sore & inflamed, me personally I’d take 1 anyway to be on the safe side but I’d make sure it was accompanied with food.

I would, i pretty much ignore the doctors & packets advice & just go with what works, you know your own body yourself better than any verbal & written instructions, well I know I do they’d be something seriously wrong if I didn’t. Yes I can imagine biting could be problematic, tins of soup was my fallback plan.

I’m with you on over the counter painkillers, I’ve never, ever noticed any improvement after taking them for anything. To the point I’m half convinced most are placebo and never bother anymore. Unless I’m desperate that is (Like it sounds like you are) and then I’m willing to waste my money just on the off chance. Never works though!

According to my wife, you need to boil water, let it cool, add salt and let it sit around the tooth for a while before spitting it out and repeating a couple of times. Then apply a clove and let it sit on the tooth for a while.

understand that, no idea how bad your toothache is or where your dentist is, but looks like most practices are re opening soon with strict guidelines in place.
