The Hitman and Her
Kick out time at the Ritzy, formerly known as as the Cats, dodgey burger from the bloke outside then home to watch Hitman and Her on ITV night time. Occasionally I missed it if I'd managed to trap off, but generally, I had to make do with Michaela Strachan for a bit of excitment on a Saturday night.
I once watched myself on tele the week after they'd filmed in Burnley, I looked a complete tw4t, but thought I was great at the time.

There's a few episodes of it on YouTube, including one from the Roxy ("the Poxy) in Bury.
Re: The Hitman and Her
How many years did it run for?
Looking at old footage, it seemed to be from more mainstream nightclubs. Later on though, it tapped into the rave scene - an odd mix having Sasha playing in a club with Pete Waterman not having a clue what any of the songs being played were.

Re: The Hitman and Her
That scene in "Phoenix Nights" where Max and Paddy are confronted by the woman who paid them to kill her husband is brilliant - and the one where she asks them to "take him out"..........."The 'Itman and 'Er".
I've forgotten the actress' name, I think she was in Corrie but I had a real thing about her. Still do, tbh.

I think it was Hitman and Her that brought Take That to play the Ritzy in Burnley.

The second picture looks like one of those blow up dolls that have been frequenting football matches recently.
Re: The Hitman and Her
It was the dress to impress type nightclubs, no admittance without a suit and tie etc. It's really cringey now thinking back. I'm just glad the house/rave scene happened and I didn't have to go through it all.DCWat wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 10:30 amHow many years did it run for?

Hate to think what we used to look like..... suit and waistcoat, tie pins, cufflinks, Hugo Boss belt buckle from the lucky lucky man...... as 18/19 year olds. Those were the days!!

Re: The Hitman and Her
My mate (we're both 39) made the very good point recently that we're the last generation who had to dress up to go out. Lemon btton-down Ralph Lauren shirt (from Tesco!), black suit pants, shiny black Frank Wright shoes with buckle. Man alive.
Re: The Hitman and Her
I still see the odd person going out dressed like that. They invariably have a mullet!jamesisaburyfan wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 11:42 amMy mate (we're both 39) made the very good point recently that we're the last generation who had to dress up to go out. Re: The Hitman and Her
I'm sure there's a story in Stan's book about him flicking through the channels late one night and seeing one of his players, who was out injured at the time, on the dancefloor on Hitman and Her.

Remember that weird head jerk dancing thing they used to do, which, irrationally, used to really get on my nerves.

Re: The Hitman and Her
100% it was the Ritzy.
Not sure whether they did Angels too - I can’t remember they did but there’s a lot about my 20s that I have forgotten now !!!
