Don’t see why not, unless you have payments outstanding for 19/20 I guess.

The best they can do as this season is now going to be played without fans it seems and as for next nobody knows as yet .
Well done BFC

Yeah good from the club.

I'm surprised they have not kept it and done something for ticket holders re watching the games. No worries though. They must have decided which is obvious, no fans or no games at all.
I I havnt heard any other clubs refuning so well done if we are the first.

I saw a report the other day on SSN where another Premier League club, Everton if I remember correctly, offered fans a refund for the remaining games, vouchers for the same amount in the club shop or the refund amount being donated to charity.

I suspect Norwich and Brighton did it the day after lockdown to further their ‘season must be cancelled’ narrative

Are they going to keep on taking dd payments for next season? Even though we don't think we will be in TM this year?

Would have preferred the donation to be the food bank rather than the Youth Development tbh
As mentioned on a previous post about the fundraising that goes on here, it’s not as though the club really need it for that reason now.
As for the “credit note” if you can’t use it for online purchases then not much point - also is it credit for tickets or retail?

They have said they are awaiting further clarity on next season before working out what to do. But given they are refunding for games we have not been able to see this season then I expect they will do the same for next season.
It’s a big operational exercise to refund monies so they won’t want to be doing this more than needed.

I’m not sure the government are in a position to make long term decisions as to when crowds will return to sporting events - think the best we can hope for is a decision for the next 3 months and then reviewing that decision even though we know it’s highly unlikely we will be watching football any time soon.

Given how we were dealt with I am amazed they’ve requested you can donate to the youth department.

I’ll be totally honest here and say I’ll be claiming my refund. If I did choose to donate it I could then to a charity of my choice.

I have emailed the club & they replied that dd payments will continue to be taken & aren't being frozen. So potentially they going to owe a lot of st holders a lot of money back in refunds if no games are attended this year as predicted.

I think, sensibly, they waited until they knew for certain that these games weren’t being played before the went through and publicised a refund process.

I would expect it to be the same once we know how many games we won’t be able to see next season.

would urge everyone to get the refund - and if you want to donate then do so separately - there could be extra funds available from gift aid ( although the club might have thought of that )

Yep think so - still most clubs have not announced. I think we are 5th or 6th so that’s a possible champions league place !
Could be hard for next year though as they won’t know how many games fans can’t attend - same for all clubs but guess they will have to do this periodically but keep the direct debits going.
It’s a horrible situation all round and I know there are much more important things to deal with but it’s very strange to think of not going to a game for such a long period after more than 40 years of following them - and that must be an ever stranger feeling for you Tony.
I know some people have said they have not missed football - can’t say I fall into that category. I’ve missed watching and playing a hell of a lot !

Think we will have lost a fair percentage of long term season ticket holders.

Well it wouldn’t have been you would it without spouting your negative crap. Given the games weren’t scheduled to be played behind closed doors two months ago, refunds then would have been far too premature.

Donating to the Youth set up is basically letting the club keep your money. PR man has done his job though.

Spot on. A sensible option would’ve been to freeze things as a lot will cancel anyway now.

Personally unsure what to do. If there was a clear directive as to what will happen I’d definitely carry on paying.

As it stands a bit in limbo. I don’t know whether to keep on paying not knowing when it could be refunded. Or cancel and know that I’m still owed at least my first payment.
Cancelling will probably cause more headache than not.

Appreciate the club can’t control when crowds will be back. But they could plan around it like most businesses are.

I’ve said I’ve not missed it. That’s probably not entirely true. I’ve just not missed as much as I thought I would.

Think it’s a couple of factors.

Perspective. What’s REALLY important. And yes football is. Especially as a brilliant hobbie, social event and outlet. But when put in context it’s way down the list.

And secondly we are all in the same boat. It’s not like we are missing it on our own.

I miss it more when it’s on and I can’t go if that makes sense.

That sort of sums it up. I hate missing games so if I was unable to go and we were playing I wouldn’t be at all happy.

But we are not playing. As you say we are all in the same boat. I sit here in the house thinking I’d rather go and do something else but there’s nothing happening.

Yes it does make sense.

Personally think its been handled BRILLIANTLY - just for balance like

I can afford to keep paying so will do - but that is a judgement call for everyone to make themselves. Cant see the point in cancelling unless you cant afford the payment as no one can see the future yet and IF you cancel how do you know you can get the same price later ?

Well to me it is. I realised many weeks ago that crowds at the remaining fixtures if the 19/20 season if played before March 2021 would be less likely than finding rocking horse manure.

At the time I was the only one on here saying it so I am used to being a majority of one.

With social distancing rules in place and in the absence of a vaccine it astounds me that anyone thought any different !!!

Yep that makes sense - plus because it was all so sudden it’s still hard to take in exactly what has happened to the world so I’m guessing none of us are thinking about football as much as we are normally.
Anyway sounds like you have had much bigger things to deal with - a very nice distraction indeed. Wish I was in the same boat but it’s grand children next for me !

I’m the same as you. I’m not well off at all but my income isn’t affected and with no away trips I’m spending less in any case.

Now it’s direct debit I don’t really miss the money coming out so I’ll stick with it knowing I’ll get a refund at some point.

If you plan on cancelling DDs I would contact the club first.
You might lose the money you have already paid if you don't pay the 2nd DD. In breach of contract as the Government haven't actually said you can't attend next season.

I'm sure the club will refund if you get in touch though.

For anyone thinking of cancelling you may want to check with the club if you would then lose the right to having your own seat back as and when the season starts.
