All great shouts, and, yes I'd also add the away leg at Reading, too. Incredible atmosphere.

The Orient game, indispensable of course, but my personal favourite of all those would probably be the York game. Amazing scenes.

Good to pick ten as one would be very hard , now sure everyone would have there favs that's for sure .

The 2009 play-off final is the only one that has literally brought a lump to my throat, Burnley in the Premier League was something I thought I’d never see happen.

Just a quick edit needed, the final score in the 2009 Carling Cup semi was 3-2. Had it been 3-0 as stated we’d have been in the final!

Reading away in the play offs. PNE away Sherpa Van northern final 1988. Both belong on the list and high up on the list.

2 others that I was at and really got me going at the time were Spurs away in the league cup 1983 and Southend away in 1982 to clinch promotion. The first because it was so unexpected and the second because I hadn't realised until the match was underway that a win was all that was needed to see us up.......what a night!

‘Use Somebody’ being played at Wembley before the Play Off Final was up there too. Goosebumps galore and I’m no Kings of Leon fan.

That was special and the Burnley crowd that night were incredible. That night will live with me forever.

I enjoyed Reading more than Wembley to be honest and I don't think I'm alone in thinking that - but Deepdale in 1988 was simply incredible and right up there. This was a club who were all but done for a year earlier and now we were going to Wembley.

I worked in Preston at the time but the following morning I was totally respectful towards all the Preston fans I worked with although I'm not sure it had sunk in, but there's always one. Someone came to see me during the afternoon on a work matter and asked if I'd been to the game. He was one who went to Deepdale once every few years (maybe once every Preston Guild) but he was whinging about decisions going against them, about us being lucky and all that crap. I let him finish and then asked him if he had any plans for the Bank Holiday. He said not and asked if I had any. I said: "Yes, I'm going to Wembley, now f*** off."

Right up there for me - real emotion that night.

Can't really argue with them 10 but I'd add the 1-0 over Man U late 60s with a Brian O'Neil screamer in the last minute, in fact anytime we'e beaten them is up there. Also the Justice match at BHA I was filled up with rage and then Michael repeated the trick and it stood. I filled up again.

Derby in the cup was special despite the dross on the pitch

I don't think I've ever been so gutted as a Burnley fan than when Spurs scored with Pavlyuchenko. My head were in hands and didn't want to talk to anybody for the rest of the day. Thankfully, the season ended on a high.

Good read as usual. For me, "lump in throat" games can be very different to "favourite" games.
A quick reflection on 10 games in date order that I have attended that I class as "lumpers". (Would be a little different if I were to include some games I have not been at that have had the same emotional effect, such as Ewood 2014.)
1 - Napoli 1967: My first European game, sensational atmosphere, event-filled game, even debate over the final score with the ball in the net as final whistle went. So proud at the end.
2 - Sunderland 1973: The game that clinched promotion at the Turf. My dad and I were walking on air, so happy.
3 - Wrexham 1974: I was so excited at the prospect of seeing Burnley play in a semi-final, on a neutral ground. The draw for the semis, the getting a ticket, arranging travel etc consumed my life for a little while.
4 - Boxing Day 1978, beat Rovers 2-1: Saw my dad alive for the last time the previous day, dying from cancer in hospital. His last words to me were "Give the lads an extra shout for me tomorrow son." I really was choked up when we won that game for him.
5 - Orient 1987: 'Nuff said. Crowd won it for us.
6 - Wembley 1988: Never thought I would see the lads walk out at Wembley, result hardly mattered after that.
7 - York 1992: Was living in York then, dancing on the pitch at the end with our "City of York Clarets" banner flying, so happy.
8 - Wembley 1994: Meant I had seen the Clarets win at Wembley, my dad would have just loved that.
9 - Plymouth 1998: The "triangle of death" match with the outcome again depending on a result elsewhere. The sheer relief was immense.
10 - Wembley 2009: An achievement beyond the wildest dreams of anyone who was there in '87. Flew back from the USA just to be there for this one. Never thought I would see us back in the top flight.

The second play off down at Plymouth when we had all but been written off. Also seeing Paul Barnes hit 5 against Stockport

Derby at the Baseball Ground was an amazing thing to be part of. Unconditional support forcing a team that lost 2-0 to come and take a bow because we wouldn't go home until they did.. The Town End at Deepdale in 1988 was wild as I've experienced an away end.

The wigan game stands out for me! 2-0 and promotion to the Premier League.....i was a nervous wreck before the game.
The goal by Ashley Barnes...great team goal & the fact that Wigan were on such a great run of form made it even better.
At the final whistle Dyche went to shake the Wigan managers hand & he turned away.....you could see Dyche mouthing "fcuk you then".....i think it was Use Rosler?....Then Dyche being mobbed on the field...he just put his head down and headed for the tunnel. Brilliant scenes.
I missed all the drama in the 80's due to being in the US and having no way of following it.

When Ashley Hoskin slapped that one in, right in front of the fans, I thought the wooden terracing was going to collapse. Insane.

Not a vital game/competition in the grand scheme of things, but as CT says further up the thread, a marker in our climb out of near oblivion.

Fabulous occasion.

I class that night at Deepdale as my all time favourite away game and I don't think it will ever be beaten. 12 months after we stood on the edge of the abyss, that victory sent us to Wembley for the first time in my lifetime. There have been better games, better results, more important outcomes, but the swing of emotions that delivered in less than a year tops all others for me.
