We win it as Sean Dyche is the reigning manager of the month. Simple.

A competition that is a shadow of its self,a grand old trophy passed around each other by a handful of clubs.

The FA announced yesterday they still hope to get it complete before the middle of August.
Next seasons competition could be out of the window though.

5 years ago i'd have said your were but it's a glorified training session for most teams outwith the big boys now.
Rarely do any of the teams play their strongest XI,instead they use this comp as an exercise in getting players recovering from injury some match fitness,or see it as a chance to blood a youngster or two.
The writing's been on the wall ever since the FA allowed Man Utd to opt out in 2000.

The thing is now United would give anything to being winning this tinpot trophy nowadays,oh the irony !tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 1:00 pm5 years ago i'd have said your were but it's a glorified training session for most teams outwith the big boys now.

I used to love it tiger76, it was wonderful. millions were glued to the tv on cup final day. something was just right about it . nowadays it doesnt even look like a cup final on tv. it has lost everything it once had. sad, but true .

They can start next year's competition before this season's matches are completed - hardly the same teams involved.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 12:39 pmThe FA announced yesterday they still hope to get it complete before the middle of August.

Now your being silly as if Burnley would still be involved at this late stage,i knew it was the quarter-final's but i had to check who was still in it.
Arsenal,Chelsea,Leicester,Man City,Man Utd,Newcastle,Norwich,Sheff Utd are the 8 still standing.

Yes but it used to be an occasion and the traditional finale to the season, you got all the build-up for a week solid beforehand, now it's sandwiched in between CL and PL games, and the CL is the grand finale.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 1:24 pmI used to love it tiger76, it was wonderful. millions were glued to the tv on cup final day. something was just right about it . nowadays it doesnt even look like a cup final on tv. it has lost everything it once had. sad, but true .

The usual suspects then and a couple of no hopers
Re: It's ok sorting the Prem but what about...
They should play it after the Premier has finished. Finish the Premier and then the last 3 rounds of the cup on weekend-midweek-weekend; it will extend the season for 2 weeks for the finalists.

Not a bad idea, but both Manc clubs will whinge about fixture pile-up due to their European involvement.

I couldn’t even tell you what round we are upto or which teams are still in it.
Watching the FA Cup Final use to be a full day event, even if it wasn’t your team playing
Meeting the players at their hotel, travelling on the bus with them, full build up to kicking off at 3pm
Part of the reason it was so popular was that watching live football on tv was a rarity. Now you can watch it anytime you want (albeit by “paying” for it)

The winners of the FA Cup are Champions, so let them participate in the Champions League! Then the FA Cup would be returned to it's former high-status.

Yes you raise an important point, the only football on TV pre-PL days would have been WC/EC matches, home international tournaments, and the domestic cup finals, and that was pretty much your lot,so outwith a major tournament year you'd get perhaps 10 matches max,so it was an event in itself.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 5:37 pmI couldn’t even tell you what round we are upto or which teams are still in it.

Now there's wall-to-wall coverage on numerous channels at all hours day and night,so to many the cup final is just another game.
It doesn't help with changing the 3PM KO time, was last year 5.30?,and i think there was league games on the same day.
The cup final should be a stand alone occasion marking the climax of the campaign.

A PL club entering in the 3rd round and winning the trophy would receive £6,795,000 in prize money. Okay maybe a drop in the ocean to the big boys and you wouldn't want a cup win at the expense of your PL placing. However maybe small clubs would welcome the qualifying round payments.

Re: It's ok sorting the Prem but what about...
Sean Dyche wouldn't agree.
The CL is the foremost cup competition that's the reality, even though it's not strictly a cup competition.
Even on this board many BFC fans are lukewarm to the FA Cup at best, and completely dismissive at worst.
Might be the case if we reached a semi-final/final that attitude would change, but i can't see us achieving that anytime soon.
Re: It's ok sorting the Prem but what about...
Dwight McNeil came close!
