Great thread Guller, starting in 2000, could have picked any track from this landmark album but went for Change (In the House of Flies) by Deftones...

Some really good heavy music over the last couple of decades. Here are a few of my personal favourites which in some cases push the definition of metal.

That ISIS track was next up on my list but I decided I'd put too many in already.

One more for good measure:
Shellac - End of Radio. This was a Peel Session just after John Peel died and was a fitting eulogy.

Re: Top Metal tracks of the last 20 years
I'm not fully up to speed with metal as an entirety but from the past 20 years I really like these albums
Metallica: St. Anger, Hardwired
Slipknot: Basically all their work, it's incredible
Slayer: Repentless

Spit Out the Bone by Metallica is the best thrash song this century, IMO;

Re: Top Metal tracks of the last 20 years
I am of an age where I go back to Sabbath/Motorhead/UFO etc and still enjoy all that stuff, however I also think that there is so much superb musicianship in a lot of the more recent bands that doesn't get talked about enough. You often hear people say comments like. "Rock is rubbish nowadays and there are no decent bands around!" It's just not - nowadays you can't just chuck out 3 chords banged up to eleven and it's a winner. The musicianship now is a whole new level. i.e as someone posted above a track from Alterbridge - Mark Tremonti is just one supremely gifted guitaristhuw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 7:48 amIt’s the OPs thread but why limit it? He is just one of many.
So in a nutshell just wanted to recognise more modern artists of this genre.

Re: Top Metal tracks of the last 20 years
Agree with all that. I'm into some of the more obscure and extreme stuff and the internet has made it much easier to find. Also made it much easier for people to create and distribute without label help.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 10:53 amI am of an age where I go back to Sabbath/Motorhead/UFO etc and still enjoy all that stuff, however I also think that there is so much superb musicianship in a lot of the more recent bands that doesn't get talked about enough.
