Hong Kong
China flexing his muscles (would use the feminine, but doesn’t seem apt). Another part of their global plan? We need strong leaders now........oops!!!

Re: Hong Kong
Just out of curiosity Jack, what would your 'strong' leader do to curtail Chinas ambition?

ROTFPML - and what has this trading block of nearby countries said or done to counter China’s massive economic power?CombatClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:28 amJoin a trading bloc of nearby countries with similar ideology and values to better counter China's massive economic power?
Re: Hong Kong
Problem with that Japan and Korea are far away. Of course there is the hopelessly broken EU if thats what you are alluding too. Did you note that Germany has re -asserted her sovereign power recently. A big issue that for the EU.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:28 amJoin a trading bloc of nearby countries with similar ideology and values to better counter China's massive economic power?

Re: Hong Kong
Ah, the Chinese. Now just what are we going to do about them?
Re: Hong Kong
The below from a Hong Kong Chinese businessman who thinks these protests nned to be curtailed to allow the city to function as normal and so the new law will be helpful in this respect. Stores to open and businesses to operate normally. I just wonder who they think the foreign activists and/or terrorists might be?
According to the resolution put forward at the National People’s Congress (NPC) on Friday, the new law is intended to prevent, stop and punish acts in Hong Kong that threaten national security, and encompasses secessionist and subversive activity as well as foreign interference and terrorism.
The resolution has specified that relevant Beijing authorities overseeing national security can set up organisations in Hong Kong if necessary, implying mainland agents would have enforcement powers within the city.
That means China CIA Organization will be executing their power to stop local and foreign activists or terrorists in future.'
