Almost a crying shame that the mighty AC Milan are scrapping around the champ and prem lower rungs.Jeffs been ok for us tbf always puts a shift in .Fair enough he’s painfully out of his depth in a prem midfield but his grit and graft has seen him through

Painfully out of his depth?

Are we on about the same player?

I’ve just been looking at Milan’s wage bill for this season and it’s 115 million euros.

If you told a teenage me that my beloved Clarets would be virtually the same as the all conquering team of the early nineties, well it’s unbelievable.

Come on now, some people rate him, some people don’t. It’s no biggy.

When you’re trying to get to sleep tonight, replay all the pleasurable moments Hendrick has given you over the last 4 years? That’ll pass about a minute of your time.
107 starts from 140 league games since he signed suggests Dyche realises just how good a player he is

Jeff's been a virtual ever present in the past 4 years in a mid-table Prem team ,over that time he's amassed 122 appearances and contributed hugely to our success including qualifying for Europe,i think i'll trust Sean Dyche and the coaching staff, after all every team needs a water carrier just ask Didier Deschamps.

If Jeff opts to leave we'll notice his absence next season.

If we can't get an agreement with Hendrick in the next few weeks
then I think I agree with some previous posters that Brownhill should be given a good
few games. We're relatively safe and if Hendrick does want to go elsewhere
then it doesn't make much sense to play him all the time.

As long as we get the two or three points we may need to
be absolutely safe and that we should be capable of (even without Hendrick)
the it's a good opportunity to see what Brownhill can do.

Similar sentiments when Scott Arfield was on the brink of leaving the club. Many wondering how we would replace his industry and work rate.

I'm sure a pacey winger would have been on our summer shopping list prior to Covid, so we'll wait to see if we can still pull it off.

I'm sure there will be plenty of decent players looking for a PL squad place next season. Persnoally I think Jeff Hendrick has done some really good work at BFC, but if he can get a better deal, and perhaps a signing on fee, then you have to say best of luck...and thanks. I'm sure we will find at least adequate replacements at a decent price......assuming he leaves, of course.

I honestly think it will be a relief when he leaves. Look he isn’t a bad player but you just don’t get the quality you require from a player in an advanced position. If we are to move forward we need to upgrade. Honestly if we are all honest we would put a fully fit Johan in front of him... thanks for the service Jeff

I always knew Jeff would make it to the top . And at 28 there is still time for him to go on to be the best. His touch control and vision are up there with your Ronaldos and Messi . One of if not the best to have played on the Turf in the last 50 years , I've always said it. We will miss him holding the ball and keeping possession then spraying it across the park to a team mate effortlessly and his runs and dangerous surges forwards into the box.

Jeff is a fantastic player for us, with a great attitude on and off the pitch but he’s not Paul Scholes.

Ok you got me I may have been a little facetious. Jeff has been loyal but he is one of the players we need to improve on. He has found his place as a right sided mid who's best attributes are staying fit, covering the defender and helping defensively a lot , makes some good blocks and interception , he has good stamina. His bad points are a tendency not to look up with the ball and deliver early in good positions , he cannot beat a man , he makes many stray passes and he holds onto the ball that extra couple of seconds when there is an obvious thing to do usually resulting in a lost oppurtunity for an attack in a good position . Overall he has shown in the premiere league that his defensive play and help at the back has covered a lot of his frailties in his attacking possession and play.

He has done a job for us and been very useful and I wish him well moving on but would love an upgraded Jeff with his attributes and a few more opposite to his bad points.

If we don't get an improvement in his position who has his attributes and more then obviously we should keep him until we can.

I like Jeff-like Arfield he gives us squad cover and scores some cracking goals. I wonder if we have a similar scenario to Ben Gibson. Pretty sure we signed him in the event Mee did not sign a new contract. In Jeff's case its possible Brownhill was considered a natural replacement for Jeffs "role" but I still hold out Jeff may stay with us in view of whats happened in the market place since March

I think he is treading quite a dangerous path here. Presumably he was offered a new contract when times
were good and money plentiful, relatively speaking. In the current climate, most of the clubs that would be
interested in Hendrick, will almost certainly be strapped for cash and therefore there is a very good chance
that what he's offered elsewhere will not match what's currently on offer here.

If he comes back to the club now and says that he'll sign, the club could very well say that the offer is no
longer on the table , and here's a revised one on less money (but still better than what was on offer elsewhere)

That's my theory anyway !!!

The one thing Dyche prides himself on is harmony within all aspects of the club. I'd think that if Hendrick does re-sign he'd be on the same wage as all the other first team players.

That would be my take too - just that in the current climate it could be seen as a pay rise

Agreed-and on the basis he could be walking away for nothing , he would prove a "cheap" signing, and actually no risk to BFC in terms of fitting in and contributing

I think he’s done a decent job . Always done what’s asked and I’ve never ever seen/heard the so called “ anti Jeff lot” on the turf at all , he seems well backed imo . While I think his ball carrying ability is poor and he’s simply unable to drive forward in possession ,his technique is good and his attitude, close up movement and graft is 1st class matched to a few very nice goals . It seems you have to love him or hate him which is bizzare . I’d prefer him to stay but if he leaves on a free to Milan that would be amazing for him. He’d be easily replaced but isn’t (almost)
everyone ?

Most posters seem to presume that Jeff's decision not to commit is purely financial, but does anyone actually know definitively that's the case, it could just be that he fancies a fresh challenge, and both AC Milan and Celtic would offer that and a far greater chance of lifting silverware, especially at the latter.

Wasn't this one of the reasons Arfield went to Rangers to win trophies, and but for a missed penalty back in the Autumn he'd have achieved that goal.

I know there's lots of jibes at Scottish football but a trophy's a trophy, and that's what players are remembered for in their retirement, not finishing middle of the pack in the EPL.

Not a great Hendrick fan although I accept he's been a sound if not a inspirational (for me) part of the squad for the last few years. Does anyone know if Burnley offered JH a new long term contact when they activated his extension in December 18 ? I've always been of the impression that he wants to move on and probably has good options. However, given the present climate, I think Jeff's in an even better bargaining position although I raise an eyebrow at the likes of AC. A player coming to his peak with an abundance of PL experience with no fee is what the majority of clubs will be looking at in these exceptional, uncertain financial times.

AC Milans scouting in the premiere league is clearly only 2nd in quality to ours in serie A.

Hendrick will be a big loss, he is always fit, rarely gives the ball away and his name as been perminantly set in stone on the team sheet over the last few seasons, that is something you can't say about Gumundson

As our possession stats demonstrate, we are reliant on efficient players when we don't have the ball, this is where Jeff excels as he tends to shut down the opposition's left hand side. It's not aesthetically pleasing but it's absolutely vital in executing our game plan.

I share some other posters frustrations as to his ability with the ball but he'll do for me if he elects to stay.

I think that sums it up.

He’s not the greatest player but his versatility is vital. I’d be very happy if he stayed but perhaps a little less so if he was a first choice.

If we are able to improve the squad, making it more difficult for Jeff to get regular game time, I can see why he may want to leave.

I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with some supporters not being his biggest of fans.

Apparently Milan’s interest is not as far fetched as it might sound. They are nowhere near the force they were and haven’t qualified for the Champions League since 2013 and haven’t won Serie A since 2011. They spunked a lot of money on the likes of Reina and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for not much return so their finances are in poor shape.

Jeff has plenty of International experience, he is not frightened to hold on to the ball and the slower pace of Italian football might suit him.

Totally agree, although I think the last few posts on here prove that most value his worth. Total unsung hero; versatile, hard working, dependable, positionally excellent... would be a massive loss if he goes. Personally happy paying Brady’s wages for him to sit on the bench if it helps re-sign Jeff.

Obviously a ****take post, but actually in terms of stats he probably does rank as one of our best in the past 50 years. We've not had that many players since 1970 who've played so many games in the top flight as Jeff. (And also since his arrival it's been our best spell in the top flight for 50 years).
Of course he's not a standout player at PL level, but up until the past decade (when we began to improve), he would probably have been just about the the first name on the team sheet.

I'm a fan of Jeff. His contribution to our 'system' is solid. However, he does have limitations and it is quite possible we could get a 'Jeff+' - maybe from one of the cash-strapped Championship, Scottish or foreign clubs. There will be lots of bargains to be found for any club with money

Let's be honest. He is a fraction better than Graham Branch.

Let's be honest, he's not fit to lace Graham's boots. Branch would be the first name on dyche team sheet with his work rate.

Fairly obvious that the drugs are working.

Why on earth would you want either of them to go?
Brady has been poor for most of his time here. He had a few good games pre injury. That’s it. Not a massive Hendrick fan but I can see what he offers to the team structure and gameplan. He has been ten times the player for us then Brady though.
