Not a Burnley Cricket Club issue though is it? Yes, he played there but it should be the town recognising his achievements.

He is the town’s greatest ever sportsman and has brought so much to the town with his achievements.
Fair enough, if Burnley CC want a statue of Jimmy, let em have one AND pay for it themselves. Or do they want the good people of Burnley ( as in Council tax payers ) to pay for it, to adorn Turf Moor?

Depends where you're going to place any such statue, and whether such an undertaking would result in more people visiting the area I guess, the thing with Jimmy Anderson is he's known worldwide, and if the council could use his fame to promote the town, then the small outlay for a statue is surely worth considering.

Fred Truman said he was the first to get to 300 test wickets because Statham was at the other end: he said teams couldn't score off Statham because of his accuracy, so they took more risks off him and he got the bonus wickets.

Fred & he were really good friends and were an outstanding opening Bowling partnership for England. Statham was deadly accurate and took 252 wickets in 70 tests. I remember the day Jimmy went past that total and what an achievement that was.

Good article about Jimmy on the BBC, he says he's in top shape heading into the SL serieshttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/55530213

Good to see Jimmy in form during England's warm up game in Sri Lanka, he dismissed Bairstow and Buttler in successive balls, he'll have enjoyed that.

Runs for Crawley, Lawrence (who may debut next week) and Root.

Nothing for Jimmy in the New Years honours list even after breaking the fast bowler wickets record. :(

I imagine he'll get a knighthood once he retires like Cook did. Can you imagine the oining the Aussies would give 'Sir' Jimmy at the SCG or the Gabba?

Well he's already got an OBE, so I'm not sure what else he could be awarded, short of a knighthood, and I don't know if he's done enough to earn that, although with the way they throw them about like confetti, you do have to wonder why he's not yet Sir Jimmy, I suspect that'll happen on his retirement however.

I wonder if glen McGrath has some sort of statue somewhere. Shane warne or muralitheran.

Imo Anderson’s feats are truly unbelievable and the town should without doubt have a statue of the guy . Amazing career

Lewis Hamilton just got one so why not? He can't do any more than be England's all time wicket taker.

Every day that goes by without anything happening in the town to celebrate this mans achievement is, in my opinion, an absolute shame on our council and it’s representatives.

Shen Warne one of the dozen or so statues outside the MCG. I think Glenn McGrath’s is in a park in his home town. Not sure on Murali.

It’s not just that he’s England’s leading wicket taker.

It’s that he’s taken more test wickets as a quick bowler than anybody who has ever played the game ever. Across countries, across eras, nobody has taken more.

That’s why he deserved one.
