Re: Adam Lallana
(1) I doubt it will happen but we can hope.
(2) It would DEFINITELY improve the first team AND the squad as a whole.
(3) It would allow us even greater tactical flexibility.
(4) What a role model he’d be for the younger pros at the club and just imagine the advice and mentoring he could give for Dwight (amongst others).
(5) It would allow us to use Brady/Gudmundsson sparingly in light of their injury records.
(6) It would give us time to identify, recruit, bring on a young player to the point where they’d be ready in 2-3 years to step in.
(7) It would be a clear signal to other players we may be targeting that we’re not going to allow ourselves to stand still and we will, incrementally, keep on improving and adapting.
(8) It would be a big name signing who will (hopefully) galvanise the fans.
If we can do it, if it’s what Dyche wants, if Lallana wants to do it then I’d say we’d be fools to not do it. HOWEVER, I’m not holding my breath....

Burnley Paul-agree and gives us much needed genuine squad depth which has been chronic since the return from LockDown. We have proved recently that BFC are not exempt from injuries and suspect quite a few of the recent starting 11 are being patched up to play when we should be resting them -Jay, Pieters, Taylor, Cork, Long took a nasty fall,Wood, JBG,Brady have either been injured or recovering

Re: Adam Lallana
Today's Norwich press conference.
We asked Sean Dyche about the Adam Lallana speculation this lunchtime.
Safe to say it wasn't too serious an answer from the Burnley boss who rarely comments on specific player speculation. Dyche said
"In my time at Burnley the key to your question is free."
Well Lallana is free so we will see how that one develops over the coming weeks.
But it still seems a long shot for the 32-year-old to move to Turf Moor.

Re: Adam Lallana
The stick Cork gets is really unfair. He has played a big part in us finishing top half.
I have watched him a lot paying more attention to one player than I should and like all of us he makes mistakes.
Lallana was at Administrators FC Southampton with Jay and Jack Cork so that may help our cause
He would have to be cheap enough to join us at 32

You make a good point about J Rod and Corky though. It could help.

Re: Adam Lallana
Ideally we would get another midfielder in around Brownhills age or younger to come through and challenge or takeover from Westwood and Cork eventually. I’d take Lallana as a wide midfield option who comes in narrow like Hendrick and Arfield did for us in the past. He will have zero sell on value and would demand large wages I’d imagine so that’s a stumbling block, but I still think we’d need another winger on top of that given our injury prone JBG and Brady.

Re: Adam Lallana
I really do not understand the Hype around Lallana.
This is a player that is 32 years old. He Has not contributed an assist or a goal since 2016. He has also only played around 30 matches since 2016.
I don’t understand how Burnley fans can see this as anything other than a disaster signing.
People need to remember he has only been decent in a Southampton team. This isn’t some kind of galactico That wants one last hurrah.

Again I think you missed the point of the post. Quite clearly he can’t cope with the strains of the premier league. in the last 4 years he has managed a grand total of circa 30 games. Over 60% have been as a sub.
But if you want the club to sponge Around 50k a week on An injury prone player that hasn’t played for 4 seasons then that is up to you

Re: Adam Lallana
We need an older goalie (lets get Ben Foster), and Lallana. then we could line up this half decent over 30s team.
Foster,
Bardsley, Long, Mee, Pieters,
Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, Lallana,
Barnes, Rodriguez.
not bad.

He got the winner against Man Utd this season in the league, and assisted against Wolves.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:23 pmHe Has not contributed an assist or a goal since 2016. He has also only played around 30 matches since 2016.
I like him. He is “busy” and more defensive that many think, Dyche probably likes him, and his injury record isn’t that bad. A few muscle injuries but apart from one bad hamstring nothing major in 10 years according to transfermarkt.co.uk.
Re: Adam Lallana
If we say that we, at present, lack a little in terms of quality and pace
then Lallana gives us a touch more quality but not pace.
He fits into the category of proven players who Dyche can start and
one has to presume that if we are talking to him then we're interested in bringing
him in.
Not sure what sort of money he's on at Liverpool or what any other interested parties
might be willing to offer but say we offered him 70k a week on a two year contract
and a 1m signing on fee that would cost us 8m over two year.
Not sure that's a good return on someone who might not work out
but others would argue that's not bad especially if he can make a decent contribution.
Doubt somehow that we will get him and it might turn out for the best if we don't.

interest from across the park!
McGrath (Telegraph) describes the tussle for Lallana’s signature as a “four-way fight” between Everton, Burnley, Brighton and Leicester, where he could make a reunion with former Reds’ boss, Brendan Rodgers

I wonder whether he would want another dose of Rodgers?
That may be the key.
Leicester seem to have lost it, on the pitch.

I hope for a better transfer window. I understand the limitations in terms of finance for a club such as ours. I am grateful for everything that Sean Dyche has done for Burnley FC. But......I am heartily sick of his whining rhetoric currently. Put up or shut up Sean! Nobody is bigger that this football club.

Re: Adam Lallana
To be honest, I see both sides of the coin. On the one hand, I think his transfer funds have been pretty limited in recent years. Buying Championship players and turning them in to gems continuously is literally performing miracles and that must get tiresome while we are sat on £40m. As much as I like being well run, we're a football club, not a bank, so I can see Sean's frustrations.Longsidebogs wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 7:30 amI hope for a better transfer window. That said, the continuous commentary about the situation is getting tiring and risks becoming a more destructive (unless it is a deliberate play at agents/clubs to be realistic in their demands, in which case it's quite clever).
Ideal scenario is he gets backed this summer, gets some commitment re: next summer (when presumably we'll need a RB) and signs a new contract, with a slightly different media messaging that he's committed to the club moving forward.
Re: Adam Lallana
If our budget is limited then the last thing we want to be spending precious money on is an ageing player past his best

Re: Adam Lallana
I would normally agree 100%
But every time I have seen Lallana play against us for Liverpool, he has been the best player on the pitch. He presses like a madman. Always wanting to get involved. If he's still hungry to play he will be a great signing.
But going down the expensive route of bringing in experience hasn't worked out that well for the club recently with Hart and Lennon etc..
Rigg and Dyche have worked together for long enough now to have a decent list together, if not Rigg wants potting.
Re: Adam Lallana
Thing is, a signing like this could turn out to be an inspired one, like Joey Barton, or a disaster like Joe Hart

Good signing for Brighton if true, although I'm not particularly fussed. Hopefully we can find a Sean special from the championship who will be just as effective
Re: Adam Lallana
Allegedly smashed their wage structure, an all right player in a decent team...interesting to see how he adapts to playing for a bottom 6-8 side.

He's been a very good player over the years but injury concerns combined with age and wage would always mean that this was a no go.
I might have thought that Leicester would take a punt on him, he would have fit into their squad nicely I think but maybe they had the same concerns I mention above.
He was always going to try and get as much money as possible on as long a contract as possible and I can't blame him, I would've done the same.

Their owner Bloom is, which is why they owe him about £200 million in debts.
They don't own their stadium or training ground directly either, those and the club itself are owned by a parent company last I saw anything.
