Glyn Pardoe RIP
Man City full back of the 60s and early 70s has died, aged 73.
His grandson, Tommy Doyle, made his City debut this season. Tommy's other grandad was Mike Doyle, who played in the same team as Pardoe.

Re: Glyn Pardoe RIP
Part of a very good football team that won the League in 1967-68.

Re: Glyn Pardoe RIP
City had a great side when Pardoe played. I can name 6 or 7 of the City team from that era, I would struggle to name the same from any of todays premier league teams, due to the foreign players

Re: Glyn Pardoe RIP
Tommy played in the recent FA Youth Cup tie against us at their academy stadium. I knew he was Mike Doyle's grandson but someone told me that night that his other granddad was Glyn Pardoe.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 8:48 amMan City full back of the 60s and early 70s has died, aged 73.

Made his debut before his 16th birthday. His cousin was Alan Oakes, City's left half.

Re: Glyn Pardoe RIP
I lived/worked south of Manchester 2nd half of 1969, had a housemate who was a city fan and we went to see City fairly often -watching from the Kippax.
I really enjoyed watching that City team and can remember all the names and characters from it. As a big Elder and (especially) Angus fan, Ive always tended to watch out for full backs and thought Book/Pardoe was a very strong pairing in that team. Pardoe played left back though right footed and liked to get forward.
He' was a great servant to City over the years, starting his playing at a very young age and then going into coaching etc after his playing ended. He had a long break when his plying career was coming towards his best years @ 23/4 years old (after getting a very bad leg break).
RIP Glyn Pardoe, even as a non-City fan, I enjoyed watching you play from the big terrace.

RIP Glyn. Saw him at Maine Road in a 4-2 City win against us. Plus on another couple of occasions.
Re: Glyn Pardoe RIP
Am I right in thinking that City team (67/68) was the last one made up exclusively of English players?

The song about him going to Mexico to play in the 1970 World Cup was a bit of a shocker I think United fans started it .

A double fracture of the leg and reported at the time that it could have been amputated. George Best the other party involved.
