Seeing those programme covers takes me right back to the most boring seasons to be a Claret.. 88/89 and 89/90. Literally nothing happened for 2 years.

89/90 and all those 0-0 draws at home - the 1988/89 season started really well and then just collapsed under Miller.

Think the oldest programme I still have is one of the yellow ones but I’ve loads the season after. Had to go up to Scotland straight after the 87-88 Carlisle 4-3 home game and remember trying to keep a low profile at the service station as their fans seemed quite annoyed.

A 4-3 result isn’t common but we won both games that season against them by that score.

What was the story regarding Derek Parlane? His name is shown as down to play for us on the Blackpool programme, Dec 1986.
He never played for us, as I recall, but didn't we nearly sign him?

Good spot. I can't place Parlane and Burnley but the team on the programme is correct other than Murphy playing rather than Parlane.

I've just spoken to someone who I know did play in that game and he can't shed any light on it. I can only assume it is a misprint.

Derek Parlane had played for us the Saturday before in a friendly against Man United so that’s why his name is on the Blackpool team sheet.

He didn’t sign for us for whatever reason and I think played against us shortly after for Rochdale.
