Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
Richard Masters has said today that the Premier League are optimistic that fans will be admitted next season in a phased approach. I'm assuming that means some of us do get in and some don't.
I don't agree with that approach at all. How would you feel if you were one that was told you couldn't go?

If they are keeping fans two metres apart it might only be one match in every four you see.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 2:41 pmif they did a 'you one week me the next' scenario then it would be better than nothing at all.

That will open a can of worms. I go with 16 other people, and sit with family. Be strange if say I could go, and son or grandchild Carnt.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 2:38 pmRichard Masters has said today that the Premier League are optimistic that fans will be admitted next season in a phased approach. Maybe they mean age.... All over 70s must stay away for first 5 games... Good luck with that one.

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
Let's how it works in Poland.
Polish football fans allowed back on 19 June
Poland will let fans back into stadiums to watch professional football from 19 June, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said.
The stadiums hosting matches from the top-tier league, the Ekstraklasa, will be no more than a quarter full to allow for social distancing. Matches will be broadcast in 16 countries.
"For me, football is more than just a game, it is something more than just sport. It is a great, excellent promotion of Poland, Polish business and of our will to fight," Mr Morawiecki said.
The Ekstraklasa resumes its season today but without fans. Poland began easing its lockdown on 20 April, when parks were allowed to reopen. Hotels, shops, museums and galleries reopened on 4 May and primary schools restarted earlier this week.

Would the facilities at the turf need a major upgrade? Handwashing facilities definitely would need improving.
Although I'm not sure what they can do about how cramped the concourses are.

Just by banning say over 60’s with health conditions as these are an at risk group would help . While I appreciate the Bob lord could be empty ,it won’t affect atmosphere and will help both the non attendees and also those on the match .

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
It’s won’t be as simple as let 50% in one week and the other the week after. If that’s the approach you’ll be looking at 25% max. It the same for restaurants. They won’t be able to cater for 50% of their capacity.
Take 50% out of the Longside upper and social distancing still won’t work. What will happen at half time when everybody wants the loo or the bar/food. Queues will be backing up into the seating areas. All toilets/bars/shops are positioned quite close to each exit.

Re squash at half time
Move the bar in the jhu to tge centre
Serve food and coffee directly behing row G HJ
Use the hospitaliry areas for fans before and at half time
Upgrade the water washing and soap and hand driers
If over 70s are banned we wont need these but others can benefit

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
I was saying today that for the last 9 games of this season how I thought it would be an idea to let say 500 people in each ground with plenty of room to socially distance between them - maybe even a couple of hundred. Could be just a random draw of season ticket holders or even auctioning them off to raise funds (prefer the former)
It would be good for those people lucky enough to be chosen...
As for phased return next year - personally I think it’s a positive. Would be gutted to miss out but as long as you had as good a chance as any other season ticket holder had it was done as fairly as possible then I think the sooner we get games in front of some kind of crowd the better for everyone - as long as it’s within safety and risk guidelines etc.

Allowing fans into hospitality won’t happen. Why would it. The club would take a huge hit to allow season ticket holders in rather than those that use it now.
Banning over 70s? Why? Allow them in and ban everyone else.

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
Nice bit of nostalgia for those who went in the 80s. I'd be happy with it, seeing 3 or 4 games in a season would be better than none.
I'd have no concerns watching a game outdoors, it'd be less risk than all cramming into a mate's house to watch. That concourse is a bit of a petri dish at the best of times though, I'll give that a miss.

As martin_p says, closing the food and drink outlets will reduce the risk of congestion, as will turning off the TV monitors on the concourses.
We' re a few months off the new season yet. By that time, we may be closer to a vaccine or other treatment. Let's see what happens.

We have been going on the Turf for 55yrs and we've stopped going to away game because of persistent standing by fans blocking our view,so no away games.
All in all this might be the end of our trips watching at home.If it pans our this way it will be a sad end to our record following our team.

Second method of an auction would be appalling - those who can afford to pay more can come in type of scenario. As for having a draw, again not for me, no one should get in and another not.TVC15 wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 3:24 pmI was saying today that for the last 9 games of this season how I thought it would be an idea to let say 500 people in each ground with plenty of room to socially distance between them - maybe even a couple of hundred. And I'm against the auction. This isolates those that can't afford to partake, just like the poppy-shirts auction.
I've always thought a more fairer way would be a raffle at £10 a ticket. Sure it would make more money in the longrun

I did say a random draw would be my preference !! A raffle would also be fine if the money went to the club.
As for the 6 year old going on his own comment - you could resolve this easy enough - allocate some of the tickets as adult and child ones.
None is this is ideal but for me even a few hundred fans is better than none - and it’s not about creating an atmosphere but more allowing a few fans to watch the games live which for most of us is better than watching on TV.

Being mercenary, how would the club deal with Season Tickets ?
The easiest way might be to allow Season Ticket Holders to attend 50% of the home games (difficult with 19 home games) and refund 50% of the cost of the Season Ticket.

Is Richard Masters part of the government 'think tank'? What a ridiculous, non-thought out idea. I go to the match with my family.Always have and always will. Three generations of us.
Are these people put in a room and locked in until they come up with some innovation or new idea? Incredibly naive.

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
Has anything been said about away fans? If they are not permitted and home fans can use the extra capacity it may mitigate to a small extent.
Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
To me, it's got to be all or nothing re allowing supporters in for a game. If away supporters were not allowed to attend then some home fans could be housed in there.
First options could be given to only to those who have now bought Season Tickets. But that will be at a guess 10,000, equating to roughly 1 every 2 seats. That wont be allowed.
The crowd capacity may need to be somehow reduced to around 5,000, to reduce the Corvid risk.
Keeping all the bars shut inside the ground may reduce the need for some to visit a toilet, lessening the close contact areas. Imagine the screwed up expressions on some fans faces, stood queuing 5 mins for a Pee, if it was stewarded entry.
While the Bob Lord fans are quiet, they're not known for frothing at the mouth, uttering tirades at Refs decisions, or opposition players. At least being sat in there, your not likely to be covered in spit from an irate fan jumping up and down gobbing off and spraying spit on all around them.

If it benefitted they team I wouldn’t be opposed to a severally reduced allocation.
Sorting it out would be a logistical nightmare though.

We need to allow fans in with 7000 points and above first, the proper fans, those elite fans who’ve been there and done it. No glory hunters or fly by nighters, what we need is a kind of Burnley Leibstandarte or Uber fans brigade.

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
Opening up stands for the sake of a few hundred fans really wouldn’t be worth it. The ticket draw would be a logistical issue and then there is the additional requirement for security, crowd safety, disinfecting seats and toilets etc. Obviously if we could get 10-12000 people in then that would be much better than none, although I’m not sure whether that would really minimise the risk of spread.

Re: Fans potentially admitted next season with a phased approach
As someone in the 4000 points bracket I personally wouldn’t be against those with higher points getting tickets but on the proviso that ID has to be shown to avoid the abuse of buying for mates.
Other than that only those who can prove they were on v Hereford in 0-6 match!!
