When does next season start?
Now this season will finish, FA cup 1st August, when will next season start and what will give to make it happen?
Normally players have several months off, to rest/ train for following season, assuming not involved internationally, how will they get this in an already cramped calendar?
Not to mention Qatar world cup...

Do they need a big break with just having 3 month off?

Re: When does next season start?
I read that they want next season to start in September - The weekend of September 12-13.pompeyclaret wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 5:19 pmNow this season will finish, FA cup 1st August, when will next season start and what will give to make it happen?

Re: When does next season start?
Not heard but I think maybe a break of a 3-4 weeks would suffice. Give clubs and players time to assess the season just gone and do a bit of trading for the next season.

Later the better. Gets us closer to starting in front of fans. And gives the players time to adjust and have a proper break. While they’ve been away from the game they’ve still been training and on standby.
I’d like a winter start and get things to fall in line with adjusting for Qatar 2022

I would agree with 'later the better'. It might be an enforced later:cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 8:49 pmLater the better. Gets us closer to starting in front of fans. - Possibilities of second and third wave's of the virus might enforce further lock downs and stalling of the league again. This could happen in the current season or/and next season. The government says it will re-imlplement the restrictions if the 'Ro number' goes above 1. This implies 'in and out' of restrictions until immunity is achieved. Localised restrictions could also be disruptive if Ro rises above 1 in a particular area.
- Positive tests amongst players could lead to fixture cancellations or stalling of the league this season and next. Therefore no definite end date for this season.
- Season could be started in September
- Are fans admitted to the grounds again once the pandemic is seen to be over?
- Could use the remaining games of this season in place of pre-season friendlies. Might need the restart putting back a few months though
- Season will have to be started later. Probably next spring
- Something fundamental will be required before 'full attendance football' is back:
- A vaccine is found and manufactured in large numbers.
- Government decides to go for 'herd immunity' in order to save the economy (would result in the opposite effect imo)
- Virus transmutes, becomes less infective and fizzles out of it's own accord.

Re: When does next season start?
Sounds about right. Having just had three months off, I really don't think the players will want to hang about more than they need to for next term.
Always assuming we don't have another major outbreak of the lurghi, of course.

Re: When does next season start?
Never mind next season when is the fixture list coming out for this?
Need to know times, dates and TV channels
The new season will have to turn round ASAP due to the TV money with or without fans, or the likes of Burnley will be screwed

They'll need to change their planned dates. 7 weeks is the break, going off the current reported plans, as I posted above.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:25 pmSounds about right. Re: When does next season start?
Isn't champions League set for August?
All the top managers moan about burn out, can't see how can get next season in a shorter time period starting September/ later without impact on players
