Some rough looking Millwall defender
I've just been going through the 2001/02 programmes and found the one from Millwall away - this was the day they rioted at the end and we were all trapped in a car park in steaming heat with bricks, bottles and the lot coming down.
Have to say, looking at the front cover of the programme, their central defender looked up for a fight too.

Still looks exactly the same!
Also, why were Millwall wearing a ROI kit that year?

As an aside point, some of the football we played at the start of that season was fantastic. Glen and Alan Moore were unplayable the first couple of months
Re: Some rough looking Millwall defender
Looks like a ginger Ian Curtis mid performance with arm movement and facial grimace.

One of the stranger seasons I can remember. Top at Christmas and then pretty much relegation form afterwards. Should have made the play offs still though. Still remember Barry Knight and his interesting refereeing display against Wolves at the TurfClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:50 amWeren't we? I'm not sure we ever had Barry Knight after that.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:58 amOne of the stranger seasons I can remember. Our major problem was conceding goals, even in the first half of the season during which we had five (I think) 3-2 wins and a couple of 3-3 draws. As soon as the goals dried up the results dropped significantly. To have 49 point from the first 24 games and not make the play offs is criminal.

Only ever went to Millwall once, in 1983, from what I remember Sean is nowhere near as rough looking as some locals were that day

I wasn’t at that game but recognise the brick throwing anecdote from the 2 games I have been to down there. Does it not happen every game?

Re: Some rough looking Millwall defender
That was the worst ever. Kicked off late in the game when the ref wrongly gave them a pen and then correctly reversed his decision. Steven Reid, encouraged by that rough looking defender, argued the toss and got himself sent off. All hell broke loose.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 1:14 pmI wasn’t at that game but recognise the brick throwing anecdote from the 2 games I have been to down there. We had to leave the ground but were then left in sweltering heat outside, trapped in a locked compound, while bricks, bottles and anything else they could find came in.
It was at the end of that season that they had all the problems at the Birmingham play off.
Worst I’ve ever witnessed there.

At least it was a good result though and a peach of a goal from Alan Moore.
