Astonishing that so many were there. Quite a trek to get down there and no sand, just large pebbles which are uncomfortable to walk and sit on. The papers don’t help either. One mooting Kimmeridge as being a ‘must visit’ place to go. You can just see it. Hordes of people descending down there with their cases of beer, wielding pick axes to excavate rocks from the Jurassic coastline. The roads to these areas are simply not fit for the volume of traffic involved. The government should never have just announced that people are all now free to visit any beauty spot fancied when so many places, i.e. hotels, caravan parks, camp sites, shops and toilets are still closed to the general public. This does not bode well.

Family opposite us have a trampoline and paddling pool in front garden with kids from other houses all playing in there and lots of yummy mummies sitting around no doubt saying it's not safe to send their kids back to school. Unbelievable behaviour.

That’s not the point. The point is that a couple of helicopters had to run the risk of landing on a sloping stoney packed beach and the crews had to mingle with possible Covid carrying idiots against advice on social distancing. They were given no choice in the matter.

People are still trying to get down to Durdle Door even though the roads to Lulworth have been blocked. The roads around Poole Harbour and Sandbanks in particular, are totally gridlocked, with cars parked on every available piece of tarmac, whether it be pavement or road. Harry Redknapp is unable to leave or enter his house. It is unbelievable. I’ve never seen so many people there. It has been getting worse and worse all week but this is just ridiculous. It makes a mockery of all the deaths and the sacrifices that people have made. My faith in Britain as a united nation has gone completely out the window. God help us.

What, until the country was on its knees financially? Thousands have died and that is tragic but millions have suffered from lockdown and many will continue to do so for years because of unemployment caused by lockdown. When would you consider it safe? When there is a vaccine/cure? In a year? The country is in recession after 10 weeks, how would it look after 12 months? Would you wait until there was no money for the NHS, furlough, compensation for businesses, benefits for the countless new long term unemployed? Countries can not run on fresh air. The time to end lockdown is right because 66 million people have suffered enough and need some normality in order to fix things before they are permanently broken.
The deaths are sad and tragic but how long can a nation be put on hold until things get so bad life is not life any more?

You raise some valid arguments hb, and i agree we can't stay in lockdown forever, but we can still apply measures that'll halt the spread of this virus, face coverings in enclosed spaces, social distancing where possible, and of course regular hand-washing, these simple actions will allow us to got back to some form of normality, and hopefully get the economy moving in the right direction at least.

Absolutely right. Obviously we cannot legislate for the ones who choose to ignore this advice but we can control certain aspects. Most supermarkets have people controlling entry so anyone can be refused entry without a mask, similarly with public transport and so on. What happens outdoors is different but then the chances of catching it outdoors is very slim anyway.
But whatever we do we must get back to work and get normal healthcare working properly again. People with painful dental issues unable to get treatment. Operations for, in some case, serious conditions being cancelled or postponed. All because of a virus that in the overwhelming number of cases is relatively harmless. We cannot run a civilised society like this.

Post-lockdown party infects 180 in India

Some 180 people have been infected with the virus after a gathering celebrating the end of lockdown measures in the central Indian city of Nagpur.

Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe told BBC Marathi that the person who had organised the party infected 180 people, including 16 from a single family. He says 700 others who had come in contact with those infected have now been quarantined.

A young person organised the gathering for five friends and bought meat from a nearby district where there has been a high level of infections. Afterwards, the host's health deteriorated and he was admitted to hospital.

He initially said he had contracted the virus while out for a walk in a park but later admitted visiting the virus-hit neighbourhood to buy meat.

Officials told the BBC that people routinely conceal activities that could lead to the virus spreading and this represented the biggest risk to the community.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he has been fined for violating the country's lockdown rules.

Zelensky said this happened after he visited a cafe in the central city of Khmelnytsky on 3 June.

His office later released a photo of Zelensky sipping coffee in the cafe - although a ban on catering services indoors was still in effect at the time. The president was also without a face mask.

"They did the right thing," the president said, referring to the fine - but without revealing how much he had to pay.

Zelensky also said he had even considered at one point getting deliberately infected with Covid-19 to show Ukrainians that the danger was real.

One of the Australia's new cases is a Black Lives Matter protester who attended Melbourne's rally with thousands of other people.

Health officials said the man, in his 30s, had worn a mask but was potentially infectious. He fell sick a day after the rally, meaning it was unlikely he acquired it at the march.

Australia's government has strongly criticised the protests for the health risks, and this morning Prime Minister Scott Morrison called for people who attend demonstrations this weekend to be arrested and charged.

He said the protesters were pushing a "double standard” in how public health orders were applied. He said if a second wave arose, it would be the fault of the anti-racism protesters.

“Any further action on this front would be absolutely unacceptable," he said.

More than 30,000 people - including opposition lawmakers - turned up to huge rallies across Australia's cities last weekend. Activists have defended their right to protest against racism and black deaths in custody.

They have also pointed out that Australia is one of the safest countries for the virus - a fact also regularly cited by the government in promoting Australia in other areas.
