Seriously if that was your child how would you react

Simple answer is if I should not be there I wouldn't be. If I had gone thinking it was ok and then asked by the farmer to leave I would have left. If the farmer had told me he was going to "muck spread" I would have left even quicker. You see I consider my children to have been my responsibility no-one else.
The women with the young children hadn't been spoken to according to their Facebook post. The farmer had spoken with people further up the field and the first they knew was when he came spraying manure. (always two sides to a story)
Are you saying whatever the circumstances it's ok to spray manure at very young children (regardless of the parent's behaviour?) The farmer lost his rag, (I feel his anger and fully understand he must be fed up with it) but what he did was wrong.
Kids knock footballs into my garden, damage my plant pots flowers etc. I might be verbal towards them, I might have a chat with their parents but what I don't do is get some industrial machinery that is capable of maiming or killing someone and spray manure at them.

Yeah sounds good. I’ll direct message my address if that’s ok though as want to make sure we keep numbers down to 30ish. Why would they be coming into my house though?

And do you know why I think the farmer was wrong? Because he broke the law. Or do you think it’s right to break the law? If someone’s sat on my garden wall and they won’t move when I ask, should I fling sh!t at them and their kids or should I call the police?
Which law do you think he broke?

Just asking as the police have been down moving groups on and generally being helpful to the farmer.

Maybe even got their arses in gear after the farmers actions.

I was just trying, in a clumsy way, to give an analogy as to why the farmer was annoyed. If you substitute his fields for your house, and this anti social behaviour was going on I'm sure you not be best pleased. No I don't believe in breaking the law and he was wrong to do what he did but I was just trying to get some people to understand that this was in effect part of his home.

I don’t think anybody thinks that the farmer doesn’t have a right to be annoyed. But most sensible people will realise that he doesn’t have a right to spread animal sh!t all over them. It’s disgusting and dangerous.

Just look at all the crap he had to pick up, bag and dispose of. Some people aren't fit to leave their own homes. Then they wonder why he got peed-off.

Again, I don’t think anybody is wondering why he got pee’d off. Just questioning his reaction to getting pee’d off.

If people go around pi**ing people off, sometimes they will get a reaction they don't like.

To avoid that happening, don't p*** people off

Obviously. But that still doesn’t justify his actions.

Does he need to justify his actions ? If something happens to you while you are on someone elses property uninvited, then you bring it on yourself.

Well yes. If what is claimed is true then he has assaulted people, including totally innocent children, so I would say he does need to justify that. Again - nobody is claiming the trespassers didn’t bring it on themselves, that’s a different issue. I’m questioning the farmer’s unjustified response.

You think it’s alright to use industrial machinery to fling sh!t at people, I don’t. I guess we’ve just got different ideas as to what’s right and wrong.

For too long people have been getting away with behaving appallingly. I'm happy to see negative actions have consequences for once. If the farmer has acted illegally there should be consequences there too - consequences he should be happy to accept. There is a growing section of the UK who have no respect for anything because nobody ever does anything.

Spreading muck on them is one thing but calling them animals is a bit harsh

His reaction is because the law will do nothing to help him. The police will just say they don't have the manpower to deal with these things so he decided to take the law into is own hands. The attitiude of people today towards other peoples property stinks (oops) and on this occassion they deserved all they got IMO. He is entitled to spread muck on his own fields, for christs sake it's a farm, so it's up to people to not be there or move out of the way. I don't belive for one minute that the mother further up the field didn't know what was happening.

Guess there’s 2 sides.

1. Well done the farmer / Dave Burnley should stay at home.

2. Farmer is well out of order / Dave Burnley is entitled to go to all behind closed doors because he’s the best fan ever.

You are perfectly entitled to have a picnic on a public footpath. Therefore it seems that the farmer is in the wrong. And he’s definitely in the wrong for muckspreading them, if that’s what he did. If someone did that to me I’d be pressing charges.
You wouldn’t get very far.

You are not allowed to obstruct a right of way. If a footpath runs through someone’s private land you are not allowed to deviate off it. Why the hell would you picnic in the middle of a footpath ? Lots of selfish behaviour in the countryside by chavs, louts and disrespectful people this week. Probably the same types who cry out that their ‘human rights’ are being infringed upon at the first opportunity.

I don't think they are doing any harm in sitting on the garden wall as it abuts public property and they have every right to be on public property. But, what if they decide to come and party on your front lawn, and they ignore your request to move on? Call police? Tresspass a civil matter - el al Thawiates brewery incident. If sh!t slinging is an option would you then consider it - maybe even send out a dog to cock it's leg.

I doubt a garden wall is public property unless the council own and maintain it.

To be honest I don't think there's ever a situation where throwing sh!t at someone is genuinely justified. Appreciate that a lot of people on here seem to have different standards than me though.

Farmers have a nightmare Summer most years in Berkshire when we get our annual invasion of travellers who attempt to access empty fields, sports grounds and council car parks
They leave behind incredible amounts of junk behind
The farmers have resorted to huge concrete blocks to block entrances to their fields
The local authority had to do similar to prevent caravans accessing car parks.
It seems the travellers feel any open area is theirs to occupy.
