Clarets lose 3-2 but they were playing behind closed doors.

Re: Eggheads now
Not for quite a while. But as Dave Rainford passed away back in March, I'm quite sure another series of, "Are you an Egghead" would have been planned.
I expect there will be another series of that next year, with the winner becoming a new egg.
Re: Eggheads now
No there wont be another series. Its been 'rested' according to Jeremy Vine because it doesn't attract enough 16 to 24 year old viewers.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 8:10 pmNot for quite a while. In fact the BBC are taking money from BBC2 BBC4 and BBC1 and moving it to BBC3. I dont know this channel but my relative a young metro type said its mind numbing. But he is bright and reads and doesn't spend long periods on social .media like many youngsters do now and consewuently learn very little.

Re: Eggheads now
I’m not surprised it’s being rested to be honest. I used to really enjoy Eggheads but since working from home I’ve been able to catch the Chase quite often and it’s far better. Since Eggheads has returned this week the gulf in entertainment levels is clear. Obviously the formats are totally different but the Chase has character. Bradley Walsh is a much better presenter than Jeremy Vine and all of the chasers have a personality unlike the majority of the eggheads.Stayingup wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 5:20 pmNo there wont be another series. Re: Eggheads now
Would love to see an Eggheads vs Chasers but as they're on different channels, they'd probably not agree where to air it.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 5:50 pmI’m not surprised it’s being rested to be honest. I wasn't a fan of Beat the Chasers though, shown recently. A bit naff.

Re: Eggheads now
Think the Chasers would have the edge. Kevin from the Eggheads is rated the best quizzer in the world though isn't he? So I suppose they'd have a chance. Think only Kevin and possibly Pat would be on the Chase teamFactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:14 pmWould love to see an Eggheads vs Chasers but as they're on different channels, they'd probably not agree where to air it.

Re: Eggheads now
He has been a few times, but the World quiz championships are every year and he doesn't always win. Pat is arguably as clever and would put them both ahead of any Chaser.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:19 pmThink the Chasers would have the edge. Re: Eggheads now
That would be interesting. The slow pace and multiple choice element of Eggheads seems more suited to some of them than the quick fire nature of the Chase.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:14 pmWould love to see an Eggheads vs Chasers but as they're on different channels, they'd probably not agree where to air it.

I didn’t mind Beat the Chasers for a bit of light relief, although I’m glad that’s not the usual format. At least they were playing for some big sums of cash though. Always surprises me how few contestants play for the large amount on the Chase.
Re: Eggheads now
Which was this2 read Vino's post up thread.
Final round 4 eggheads against 2 Borneo Clarets.
Re: Eggheads now
Oh I like the Chase also. They are not strictly comparable to me. I really am entertained by some of the answers, particularly by youngsters on the Chase, like the one which se is Belgium on. Answer Pacific Ocean. I like the format of the Chase and enjoy a 'tight' finish. But I also wnjoy Eggheads which is more highbrow.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 5:50 pmI’m not surprised it’s being rested to be honest. Re: Eggheads now
I find Jeremy Vine on Eggheads embarrassing, they should get a presenter who at least has a semblance of general knowledge and a bit of character. I love quiz shows but he is too irritating to watch for half a hour, he even bugs me when he interrupts the Ken Bruce show, can't stand the man.

He also makes it too obvious as to whether a question is correct or not, with his feeble attempt at drumming up some excitement.kritichris wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 8:43 pmI find Jeremy Vine on Eggheads embarrassing, they should get a presenter who at least has a semblance of general knowledge and a bit of character. I'd prefer Tim Vine to present it, at least he'd throw a few funnies in.
