Watching the games on zoom together
I’ve been using zoom for work and it’s ok for chatting to people . It made me think about watching these games coming up and it would feel good to watch them with other clarets . What do folk think about setting up zoom meetings and watching the game together ? We could split into areas, south west clarets , London clarets , overseas clarets etc . I’m not techie but could show the games on my desktop and stream to other zoom participants or we watch on our own tellies but just chat shout swear etc with each other . It would be a lot better cheering together than on our Tod .

Could we have a CFS one where the audio from it is 3x faster than it should be?

I like the idea, but there’s all sorts of broadcasting rights being broken. Also you’d need someone with a corporate Zoom account (and I’d probably get fired as my boss is a Man Utd fan...)

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
Zoom could definitely help to boost the match day experience ... accy clarets could set up a meeting 4 hours before kick off to enjoy their pre match drink ... the rest of us maybe half an hour ..ha ha

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
I think it's a brilliant idea. We don't need to show any footage if our laptops etc are strategically placed so we can see each other, but we would be able to interact, enjoy the highs and lows of a match and generate our own 'atmosphere'. I'd be interested.

I’m happy to give it a try if it’s just a Zoom meeting for a bit of atmosphere while we all watch our own streams or TVs... trouble is, we’ll have some a minute or two ahead like the match day thread - the celebrations will be out of sync
Thinking about it, it’s an opportunity for the clubs to host a Zoom meeting with the actual authorised feed to season ticket holders... if anyone knows anyone at the club...

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
Zoom has been a massive plus during lockdown, apart from hackers sharing inappropriate content. We have two family members with corporate logins so have been able to keep in mass contact.
Messenger have, of course, come up with their own version. Not used it yet so can’t guarantee to standard.

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
We used Zoom last night for the first time for the Burnley FC Supporters Groups meeting - worked well.
Regarding the matches, a small group of us have already decided we will have a chat group going on while watching the match.

Great so how are we going to do this ? How many can zoom handle ? Any tech minded bids want to lead the way ? A trial drinking session would be a good start to chat pre match .

I wasn't sure about using Zoom, until I looked at it a little closer.

Be good to get a load of different groups doing this and uploading after the game. The club could get involved and make a “gogglebox” type video of the best bits.

Tony : what app are you using for your match chats ? Zoom ?
So someone needs to volunteer to set up the individual groups . Any south west clarets out there interested ?
Shall we have a poll of interested bods as we may not have enough for the little groups . It’s all a bit new to me

Pretty sure zoom is only limited to 60 minutes unless you upgrade?

Any other zoom hosts who would be willing to host a clarets match zoom hang out ? It says a host can accommodate up to a hundred people so maybe we only need one

Only three of us so using Facetime - would probably use Zoom if it was a bigger group.Dixie Normous wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 11:21 amTony : what app are you using for your match chats ? Zoom ?

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
The problem will be that not all users will be watching the same action. Some people are going to be cheering a good pass or celebrating a goal, 3 seconds before other people see it.

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
Zoom does end after 45 mins on the free version. Sometimes you get a message saying they’re extending you for free. Another one to use is Webex which has no limit on the free version. We use Webex at work all the time.

I did a Driver's Speed Awareness course on Zoom tonight. 2.5 hours long. We have used MS Teams at work. I would say zoom is slightly better

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
I'm not sure what the current rules are for meeting in gardens (I don't think that most people are). If permissible, a large TV could be carried out into a shady part of the garden or summer house. You would need extension cables for aerial, power, patch cable etc. Set chairs (or standing points) 2m apart. Several fans could then watch the match together. You could even have cans of beer in hand.

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
They'll be a section of cricketfield supporters who in order to create their match day experience will get p*ssed and coked up and go and annoy some cops whilst gesturing and name calling a load of strangers
It would be good if someone can maybe organise a designated street or park so they could all enjoy the afternoon together - my suggestion would be Barley

The FBook Messenger group app is actually very good and unlimited time....
Re: Watching the games on zoom together
apart from the legal issue, Zoom in my experience isn't good for broadcasting streamed video. Our church services have had youtube hymns boradcast, and while the sound works well, the video shows up as a series of stills half a second or so apart.

Re: Watching the games on zoom together
I think Zoom can handle up to 100 people at once. The 40 minute limit is a pain and would necessitate everyone logging back into a new meeting twice in every game unless there is someone out there paying for the Premium version who could set up a meeting. It could be good and interactive to have a Zoom meeting going whilst watching the game separately on TV.

I’ve managed to get on the subs bench as we can’t make the 9 required not sure if the boss will let me log onto zoom Just hope he doesn’t want me to go up front for the last 5 minutes to cause chaos in the box.

I have access to a Zoom account - could potentially set a meeting up for the City game if people are interested.
