How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
So the season will be completed behind closed doors but what will our final points total be ? Lots of unknown factors for sure. No crowds. Players going out of contract. Player fitness levels of all teams ? In case you have forgotten we currently have 39 points from 29 games and sit in 10th place.
Our remaining fixture are
Man City A
Watford H
Palace A
Sheff U H
West Ham A
Liverpool A
Wolves H
Norwich A
Brighton H
No easy away games but certainly a few winnable home games
My final points guesstimate is 52 but 50 would be very acceptable

Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
50 would be a good return ... 3 wins and at least one draw ... very achievable

Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
Certainly 3-4 winnable games, although we'll probably pick up points from games you wouldn't expect. 9-12 points is doable, putting us on 48-51.
Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
Watford finished 11th last season with 50 points. 52 points got a top 10 finish
Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
How many would we need to get into the Europa league in 7th.
8th if Man City get kicked out of Europe.

Stepping into the unknown. The mental effects of the virus could make top players average thus making average players look like world beaters.
Because of this we should be putting everything into a push for European Football. if there is such a thing next year?

Man City A 0
Watford H 3
Palace A 1
Sheff U H 1
West Ham A 3
Liverpool A 0
Wolves H 1
Norwich A 3
Brighton H 3
15 points would not be unreasonable.

Trying to be realistic
Man City A-0
Watford H-3
Palace A-1
Sheff U H-1
West Ham A-0
Liverpool A-0
Wolves H-3
Norwich A-1
Brighton H-3
Even that average run brings us 12 points, taking us up to 51, so i'd definitely say 50 is a fair target to aim for, depends whether we clock off early or not, but the break should help us more than some teams, although our head of steam has been lost.

48 maximum, plenty to keep our PL status and not mess with Europa League nonsense. We all know PL status is 'job one' with our club, and rightly so.

I don't care as long as we relegate Brighton

Take out the Man city and Liverpool games that's 7 winnable games, 21 points to play for

Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
I don't disagree, but we're also playing teams scrapping for their lives Watford, West Ham, Norwich, Brighton, and teams like us that might fancy their chances of a European spot Sheff U & Wolves and at a push Palace if they hit form on the restart, and our form down the stretch the last couple of seasons hasn't been the best, we tend to finish poorly. However the enforced break might well have given us the rest required to come out firing and hungry. I wouldn't completely write off our chances of taking something from the Etihad or Anfield, but anything from those fixtures would be regarded as a bonus in all honesty.clitheroeclaret3 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 8:54 amTake out the Man city and Liverpool games that's 7 winnable games, 21 points to play for

I wouldn't like to pinpoint an exact figure but I reckon somewhere between 39 and 66
Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
Very brave Tony; are you sure we won't have any points deducted for having the audacity to beat Man U in their theatre of dreams and (for one night only) nightmare.
Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
Interesting to look back. Most predicted high 40’s to low fifties except of course CT who bottled it

Let's face it, we've exceeded all expectations.
FWIW, I said 46/47.

Re: How many points will we have at the end of this season ?
It seems I was very accurate - but if I'm being truthful, I thought we'd be close to 50 but never thought we'd make 54.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 11:51 amI wouldn't like to pinpoint an exact figure but I reckon somewhere between 39 and 66
