Amazon games are free

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Jun 03, 2020 4:01 pm

Should we be on one of the games allocated to Amazon, they have confirmed that they will be free to all to watch and not just Amazon Prime members.

Think it’s 4 games.
You can usually get the app on most smart TVs.

For the Sky free to air they said 25 games free I think - read somewhere it was going to be made available on the Pick channel on freeview (ch 11)

So with the 4 bbc games that’s at least 33 games free to air which is good. I’m not sure whether BT have announced any of their games free to air yet.

seeing as that is how much they paid for them it should be - they only effectively paid production fee costs on the 20 they showed in December and then were both late and reluctant to share the data they harvested from them with the Premier League

All 4 of the broadcasters are showing the additional games that they haven't paid for as free to air - only the selections that are part of pre-existing deals are on pay to view

Ok - thanks
So we could have around 40 games free.
I’ve got sky, BT and Prime anyway but good for the likes of my dad who loves to watch football and gets very little of it free to air now other than the FA cup games on BBC.

I didn't know about BT - Sky announced that they were putting 25 on free to air and I've just read of that from Amazon. And then the four on BBC.

Just assuming that on the basis of what Chester said that if BT have got some extra games over and above the originally scheduled live games then these will be free to air.

The last set of fixtures will be interesting as everyone has to play at the same time. Wonder how they'd put them on different channels?

I reckon many of ours will be on TV as not many will want to pay to watch our fancy brand of football.

Still no announcement on whether the free to air games count towards facilities fees payments - if yes every club passes the base threshold and theoretically earns tv appearance monies - I would be surprised, given the distinction of what is and is not free to air (and the fact the Premier League have not charged for them) if they did count - which means the most popular clubs will "pay-back" a greater proportion of the rebate than the less popular - same applies to those finishing higher up the table with merit payments (especially on the overseas rights)

I would cancel if I wasn't contracted. I think it will become rather dull, watching TV football being played in empty stadiums, once the novelty of football restarting wears off.

I think that you could be right about that. I have BT Sports and Prime already. If Burnley are away and on Sky I usuallyy purchase a day pass on NOWTV. I will watch the BT, Prime and free matches but I am not purchasing a day pass to watch empty stadium football. They don't even need to play in stadiums as long as they have got a full size pitch somewhere. Like you say once the novelty wears off I might not be bothered about watching it at all.

I think that the attraction for many will be a 'get together with mates and a few beers to watch the match'. Once the pubs open, it will be 'down to the pub'; 'back to house to watch the game - cans in hand'; 'back down to pub' ;) . Not that there would be anything wrong with that in normal times.

The terms of the contract may be void, by now.

Pretty sure Sky Sports is only on 30 day rolling contract, it's the rest of the package that is on 18 month job

Our is for the full length, at least I think so. This is because we 'negotiated' a discount on Sky Sports etc. You know, the silly dance you do with them every time your contract it up for renewal. Won't be bothering again because I find it soul destroying. I'd be happy if there was one price for everyone. Anyway, we're going to go for a couple of those new Arris Freesat HDR boxes that support 4k/UHD. The beta testing should be over by then and most of the software problems sorted out.

Worth checking as I've done same dance (which I agree is a tiresome load of Betty swollocks) and it's definitely 30 days for sport and films

Cheers, Chris. Sounds like the main contract is for their compulsory Entertainment package.

Amazon need to stream their games for free. Last time we were on they were 45 seconds behind my I pee tee V, and they are 45 seconds behind the live game.

Some liked the feature of being able to switch commentary off though.
