Claret cult heroes

Post by tiger76 » Wed Jun 03, 2020 8:09 pm

Maybe not remembered as much as some of our stars but Ron 'The Rocket' Futcher, John Pender & Kevin 'Rooster' Russell are the 3 that stand out from my early memories of following the mighty Clarets from the late 80's/early 90's.

Anyone got cult figures from their generation or their youth that you can recall?

It would be great to do a feature on the site along the lines of 'where are they now'. Trying to find info about ex pros, especially ones not local to Burnley is hard so it would be good to see what they are up to nowadays.

You need this site. This is the Burnley page but there is a “Select Club” button on the home page.

The Athletic has a decent number of articles catching up with former players.

Thanks. It has up to date info on a lot of players but many are just missing info completely.

Owen Coyle as manager - worked a miracle and boy did we love to hate him. Never a dull moment on or off the pitch in his tenure

I'd say dobson is a 'legend' as opposed to cult hero.

I don't think there should be any crossover
