The subs will probably be sat in the Bob Lord and will be masked and socially distanced if the German model is followed.

A real challenge for Burnley when Sean has enough issues playing one.

Think this is great news for us. Pep will put out his best team at Arsenal and then underestimate us and play a weakened team against us in the knowledge he can bring on the big hitters. Hopefully Wood has bagged a hatrick by then :D

It's a good idea.

Players won't be match fit and there haven't been any friendlies that you'd normally have after a break this long.

Could probably assume quite safely that if we continued the season with just 3 subs allowed people would complain if we had used all 3 subs and some more players became injured because we couldn't bring on more.

Every team will interpret this differently - quite happy as far as we are concerned - there will be a huge temptation amongst the bigger clubs to manipulate this change to the max - sense we'll stick with continuity (as far as possible) as always

It's very difficult to predict - all bets are off - but I sense SD will find a way to maximise the benefits of having a small and close-knit squad

SD wouldn't normally use five subs per season, let alone per game! ;)

Novel way of social isolating the team although I think there would be enough room in a couple or three at the most. Will they be yellow? Hope we get a lot more rain this month otherwise they'd be useless manoeuvring on the pitch.

To keep the big clubs happy, my big worry is that now the Rubicon has been crossed, it'll be a permanent fixture in the game, end up like rugby union where they come on and off all the time.

Not sure why you think that. That sort of injury doesn't always require surgery and it was only when it became clear that it did that he was left out. Now, having had surgery, they are, as Dyche always is, being careful on his return.

They have enough medical and fitness people at the club to come to the correct decision. I'll trust their judgement.

Surely joey will know a bit more about Barnes and the injury than those people though. Just because they work with Barnes every day doesn't mean they know than a forum moaner.

This will be here to stay. How big an entourage does a team really need? There was a time when you'd get 3 or 4 sat on a subs bench. Now it's rows and rows of padded race car seats. The money has to go somewhere I suppose.
