FAO Spades - Cooking advice
Good afternoon spades and I hope that you are well.
I have just been clearing out some old school papers of Alex and came across a book of recipes.
One of the recipes is shown below and was made during the war for the soldiers wives to make their families and I wondered whether you could recommend it during our lockdown times?
It was from WW1 by the way
Trench Stew
Method
1. Chop up the carrots into small pieces.
2. Chop up the other vegetables into larger pieces.
3. Add the vegetables and the 1/2 stock cube to a pint of boiling water.
4. Stir the vegetables until they become tender.
5. Add in the 1/2 tin of corned beef (you can leave this out if you are vegetarian).
6. Crumble in the stale bread or biscuits.
7. Leave and simmer for a few minutes.
8. Serve and enjoy!

I think point 8 tells you that it's worth having a go. The word 'enjoy' says it all.
Did they have vegetarians in those days? Despite me having yet another birthday tomorrow I still don't remember those times.

Is this your real birthday or trooping the colour birthday? Either way a premature happy birthday from myself and Mrs Huw.
