The Times suggesting Burnley's first three fixtures are:
Man City (a) Monday 22nd June 8pm.
Watford (H) Thursday 25th June 6pm.
Palace (a) Monday 29th June 8pm.

All that football makes it feel like the Euros replacement!

Although different context - as 20/20 did with cricket, is there a possibility that fans may love the condensed nature of this and seek shorter and faster seasons, in some form. I know players wouldn't want it as it would be tiring, but just food for thought.

According to Gary Lineker on last Saturdays programme, he said MOTD would be back for the first weekends fixtures.

Aren't likely to set many pulses racing outwith those clubs involved, whereas the City game will generate a decent TV audience, especially from the overseas market.

TV fans may prefer a shorter, more intense season but not many people could afford either the time nor the cost of everything being condensed into a 19 week season. Throw in the FA Cup, the other cup (whatever name it is under each season) and then add in Champions League and Europa League competitions as well as international breaks and a mid season break and you end up with a season running from, say, mid August to sometime in May
