Wendell Baker
Wendell Baker
Given a ‘life’ sentence in 2013 for a brutal attack and rape of a 66 year old who was then locked in a cupboard. The judge said he would be dangerous for many years to come. Served 8.5 years including time on remand and now released. Yet more proof that ‘life’ sentences are pathetic and don’t work or provide justice.

Re: Wendell Baker
We’ve just had a case, here in Ireland, where a guy raped a 12yo boy and got 2 years. Most shocking, for me, is that there has been no fuss about it.

Shame the arresting officers didn't kneel on him for ten minutes.Blackrod wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:35 amGiven a ‘life’ sentence in 2013 for a brutal attack and rape of a 66 year old who was then locked in a cupboard. Again yet more pathetically soft justice in the UK.

Should have punished him with a muck spreader !!
Re: Wendell Baker
It's an opportunity for this Government to look at the judicial process and Change the law. Life should mean life. A horrible individual. I hope he gets his comeuppance.
Re: Wendell Baker
Very brave posting this during the current hysteria.
People will be along calling you racist saying it was white societies fault that he ended up like he did.

Re: Wendell Baker
Presumably when he was sentenced the Judge said how long he would serve in prison before being eligible for parole on a life licence.Blackrod wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:35 amGiven a ‘life’ sentence in 2013 for a brutal attack and rape of a 66 year old who was then locked in a cupboard. Re: Wendell Baker
The Parole Board would have to see clear evidence from several sources that he would not be a danger to the public, that he had reached the minimum term set by the trial judge and that he was properly 'remorseful' of his crime(s).
"A prisoner who has served their minimum term becomes eligible for parole. If the Parole Board agrees to release a prisoner who was sentenced to life, they are released on a life licence meaning that he will remain on parole for the remainder of their natural life. Prisoners who break the conditions of their release, or who are found to be a danger to the public, can be immediately returned to prison for an indefinite period under the terms of this licence." Re: Wendell Baker
This really annoys me, a tenth rate actor could pull the wool over the parole boards eyes. No deterrent.

The latter part often happens as a result of there being another innocent victim.bfcmik wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 6:26 pmThe Parole Board would have to see clear evidence from several sources that he would not be a danger to the public, that he had reached the minimum term set by the trial judge and that he was properly 'remorseful' of his crime(s).

Re: Wendell Baker
An horrendous crime deserves a decent punishment. Sometimes, the crime was aimed at a certain person, so not dangerous to others.
This chap seems to be marked as s danger to many, so like the originator of the thread, I am dismayed.
