not all Clarets fit to return

Post by claretblue » Fri Jun 05, 2020 3:01 pm

Dyche:

'...Barnesy it still not quite right yet and Woody has a bit of a problem with his Achilles. We are waiting for more news on that,” Dyche told Clarets Player HD as well as confirming that winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson had missed a couple of days with a tight calf...'

I like Gudmundsson, but if he can't get himself fit more often then I don't think he's worth another contract. Big 12 months coming up for him.

So Barnes wold have missed the remainder of the season-which for a hernia seems a long time considering he had not played I believe since very early Jan, maybe not at all in 2020. No surprise with JBG-almost written him off as a starting X1 player now

Not necessarily - had it been a normal world, he'd have been in every day for treatment and rehab.

TC-hope that's the case. Last thing we want is him having niggles at the start of the new season. Did he not at times before the end of last year play carrying the injury, which was being stated as being his groin. We need our Ash fully fit and raring to go

I think he actually only said that Gudmundsson had a tight calf, no mention of missing any days . He said Robby had missed a couple of days.

A few of the players are bound to pick up a couple of niggles - esp. when Dyche will be starting to ramp things up.
They were pulling muscles left right and centre on that Harry Redknapp ITV program, and I've not been at work since 20th. March - I'm certainly not as fit as I was. :)

We'll be fine.

he did...but (given his injury history) he won’t be training with a tight calf

Hoping Dyche keeps Pep on his toes by telling the world everyone is injured, then starts the team that played at Spurs :D

You mean the team that got battered 5 -0?

Am I missing something obvious?

"I like Gudmundsson, but if he can't get himself fit more often then I don't think he's worth another contract."

I really do struggle to understand that sentence. Does he choose whether to be injured or not?

I love JGB as a player, but he can barely go to the loo without getting injured. People on here say that it's normal to get jiggly injuries after a layoff. That's not strictly true, the players are not just thrown into it, they have expert rehab and build up. When I was a dancer, we all got tears pulls breaks etc, we had a recovery program and got on with it. The biggest difference was, if we didn't work, we didn't get paid, it's amazing how that speeds up recovery, and niggles don't happen

Presumably you weren’t a multi-million pound asset?

Although I was an asset, I had to be, otherwise I didn't get any work. I would hardly describe Jbg as an asset at the moment

You suggested that people who don’t get paid if they don’t work will recover from injuries. That is totally unfair on JBG. It will be the club’s medical staff and ultimately Dyche who decide whether he is or isn’t fit to play. Players are multi-million pound assets, and as such, if they’re not fit to play they won’t.

It sounds like you decided whether or not you were fit, so you could risk your own health to earn a living. JBG doesn’t make those calls.

I reckon we could get a result against City, effectively a first game of the season upset against a team already waiting for the close season and concentrating on the Champions League. Behind closed doors you couldn't get a weirder scenario and I would fancy Vydra and JayRod to stretch City's weakest department.

Be nice if JBG is fit though - his equaliser against the Sky Blues a couple of years back was one of my favourite moments in the last five.
