Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
My missus mentioned that yesterday, when driving past.
It was the same, apparently, on the day it was announced that they were closing for the foreseeable.
I’d rather have a Burger King, if I had to have one, but they’re both bloody terrible.

I hope the police start fining people for blocking the road.
Probably time to make it a walk through so people can queue up in the car park.

It was bad enough on that road before they added McDonalds and Aldi.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:24 pmI hope the police start fining people for blocking the road.

the amount of times i've seen folk nearly come to blows there as it ambiguously goes into two lanes is bonkers.
and they should bloody well knock that derelict library down as well. make a big roundabout or something.

I used to shop at Aldi in Shipley. I was so grateful when the one next to Harry Ramsden’s/W.Whaler opened next to Highroyds. It’s just next door!

Exactly the same down the road in Guiseley. I was trying to go straight on to Screwfix and had to sit in the queue. Queuing 100 yards down the A65 before the turn off. What are people thinking?
Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
Seriously, do they put something addictive in their food? I can't otherwise explain this.

When I’m on the road I can go McDonald’s up to 10 times a week but generally it’s for a cup of tea, toilet and 40 minutes WiFi between meetings. I do get a few wraps, bagels, or a special as well now and again.

Down here at my local branch they were doing similar, queuing for an hour on average...
After a couple of months not having them I've got to say I'm not in any rush to go back to eating them.

I remember when the KFC drive thru opened in Burnley and it was queued all the way back to the Manchester Road roundabout, anyone would've thought they were giving away free sex.

Same happened with Starbucks. Strange behaviour. As above longer you don’t have it surely less you crave it.
I actually don’t mind McDonald’s now and then. But I wouldn’t be getting any takeaway now. Never mind one where people are queuing hours.

They were ... my mate went in and asked the girl behind the counter "are you the hand job girl or the blow job girl"
She replied "I am the hand job girl" with a big smile.
He said "OK well could you wash your hands I want a Big Mac and fries"

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
When I was about 17 we used to go out mid week for a ‘smoke’ 14 years ago now! Wasn’t really my thing but I was a sheep! I remember being sat waiting for my food absolutely starving and the biggest rat I’ve ever seen in my life walked in front of the car at the drive through! Yes I was kind of in a different world and it may have appeared larger but my god it scared the **** out of me, it was that big I nearly had to get out of the car to help it get down the drain
Food was top class though

if i was given a free meal from mcdonalds i'd flush it straight down the toilet and cut out the middleman
simply awful muck...grotty desperate food for desperate grotty people...pallid lardy kids with unwashed fat bellied parents in leggings and jogging bottoms....all served by staff youd barely trust to wash their hands no matter how often that middle fingers splits the bog roll.

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
I really dont understand the mentality of people queuing for shite food.
I'm not into fb and Instagram but been made aware of people putting up photos of being excited that mds and kfc are open.
If that's what exciting for some I really feel for them. If that's what they have missed during this time then I'm shocked.

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
I was jogging past the McDonalds on Trafalgar Street on Friday and I had to stop and watch in amazement as families full of cars were queuing for their lunch (if I can call it that) I actually feel sorry for these people. lazy, obese and unhealthy springs to mind. what worries me is the impact and strain these people put on the NHS. I'm more than sure that it would have been easier, less stressful and quicker not to mention healthier to cook a nice chicken salad or even burger at home.

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
Those photos of litter say quite at lot, don't they. If I was World King I'd place two surcharges on the junk food multinationals. One for street cleaning and another to fund public health programmes to encourage healthy eating and exercise.
Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
If ever there was a tangible sign of the deterioration in society standards, this is it. Queueing for this fodder is beyond belief.
I also wanted to congratulate fatboy on an absolute blinder of a post up thread.

I like McDonald’s, although only when I’m hungover. Double sausage and egg McMuffin especially.
I don’t think the quality of the food is any worse than what goes into the pies at turf moor, or the muck served up from the burger vans outside

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
One of the reasons people want fast food is because one of the rewards centres in the brain, called the nucleus accumbens, reinforces eating at Mcdonalds with an implicit association and the feeling of comfort. The brain might even declare that eating at Mcdonalds will result in stomach pain, and at the same time, the hungry consumer will still want this dire unhealthy food. This is due to the fact the implicit association or snap judgement is what brings the customer to eat at McDonalds no matter how unhealthy the rubbish is.
Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
Loving the idea natural selection has predisposed humans to eating at McDonalds. With a whole ganglion dedicated to the cause no less!pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 1:45 pmOne of the reasons people want fast food is because one of the rewards centres in the brain, called the nucleus accumbens, reinforces eating at Mcdonalds with an implicit association and the feeling of comfort.

Re: mcdonalds in shipley today
I don't mind the occasional Maccys, but sitting in your car queuing for up to an hour for one is mental.
