Joakim Maehle

Post by Conroy92 » Mon Jun 08, 2020 2:28 pm

Rumours today for a 10million pound transfer with this lad. Rumoured last year too. Weird comments about Dyche wanting to spend the budget elsewhere. Suggests rumours over him being unhappy that Bardsleys not getting a new deal could be true?

I wouldn't get too concerned with anything you see on HITC

It's silly season the sports journo's have to come up with some gossip to fill their columns, there's nothing else to report on, so they'll latch onto any rumour, however unfounded it might be.

It seems Southampton are interested anyway, and they tried to sign him in January, so if he's going to any English club, they're the most likely.

Nixon says some within the club want him but Dyche wants to give Bardsley a new contract

The right back position is going to need sorting, if we give Bardsley another 12 months we're just kicking the can down the road for another few months.

I do find it odd that, apparently, the board are unwilling to extend Bardsley's deal.

If they don't, it'll probably cost them more having to recruit another one. Maybe Bardsley's too high an earner.

A younger option with a good pedigree makes more sense, even at GBP 10 million

Maybe their logic is, they can probably get a long-term replacement cheaper now & perhaps pay them less than Bardsley, than in a years time, when the market might have recovered.

Seen him a few times online, seems good going forward but gets caught out of position doing it, bit like Bogle at Derby imho.

Would imagine Beardsley wants two years, which he may get elsewhere, and the Board only want to offer one?

I wouldn’t mind giving him two years. Seems to stay fit and be regularly available. Good back up option.

I suppose you'd need to look at the cost of replacement in two year's time, which could be a lot more....possibly.

My logic on this is Sean waiting for Trippier to become available again at realistic numbers and leaving the space open for the return for another year

Hope that’s right mate. I was rather hoping he’d come back this summer if the rumours that Atletico wanted to sell are true?

Genk reportedly turned down €11.5, so assuming they want at least €15m - that’s ballpark Trips money.
