Who is currently still off work?
With some people going back to work from the start of the month, I just wondered who on here were still off work and what have you been doing with your time recently?

Re: Who is currently still off work?
I have a small business and can't see myself working until at least next March and that's providing I have a business to get back to.As to filling my time I'm reading loads of books walking my dog three times a day and spending more time with my better half due to her still being off work too.One thing I have stopped doing is buying newspapers watching all news programs and reading the threads on here where all the argumentative boring bastards post

Fair play Fazz. What is it you do, Ptangyangkipperbang?
I've been reading a lot as well - I've pretty much nailed every capital city in the world. It took me a few months, but got there in the end. Next is flags and periodic table. Amazing how often these come up in quizzes.

I am self employed but unlikely to have any work until March or April next year as my wife and I run a foreign student business. Work from home so lockdown hasn’t been a problem - pass time by doing jigsaws, crosswords, bit of gardening and now watching some German football.

Re: Who is currently still off work?
Work as a contractor in finance - contract expired 3rd April, really bad timing, not easy to find anything else at the moment.
Bright side has been the sun, decorating/ DIY, teaching the kids and luckily using a gym in a local garage (socially distanced). Also ensuring all the accounts are up to date and some additional education. The other half is at home, but she's still working - making use of the office under the stairs luckily made before lockdown.
However is starting to get a little dull and the money needs to return soon.

Kings & Queens is on the list, although I'm not bad with those already. The Bible, not to offend anybody, but I've very little interest in it.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 5:48 pmHave you nailed the Bible. Shakespeare and Kings & Queens(by dates)?

Re: Who is currently still off work?
Been Furloughed since March 26th, was asked to go back the week starting the day after Spring Bank Holiday. My better half has worked full time all the time, albeit sometimes from home. I said I would prefer to be still off when she was off, and they agreed, saying they'd get me back the week after. That didn't happen, and it now looks like the end of the month at earliest.

Re: Who is currently still off work?
Been off since March 26th (I think) and no idea when I'll be going back. Would be nice to have a job to go back to but if not then hopefully the redundancy will tide us over until something else comes up.

Off since day before Good Friday which feels like 3 years ago now. Was WFH for 2 weeks prior to that too, although that's not particularly unusual.

Re: Who is currently still off work?
I would not be too popular on here if I disclosed my job.Lets just say I'm in the sporting leisure business and will need social distancing to be all but eradicated before I can get back to work.Should have also added with my time I am finally getting through a book of extreme soduko puzzles definitely not for beginners.I bought it one holiday about ten years back it used to take me days to complete one at least now it only takes me a few hours with about three or four attemptsFactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 5:21 pmFair play Fazz. Re: Who is currently still off work?
I'm off. Been off since first boris speech. My boss couldn't wait to close up. This is week 12. Rest of work is back now but I'm staying off until kids go back to school I guess. missus has worked right though.
I've home schooling to do but that takes around 2hrs a day. Early on I did loads of little jobs round house and garden now I've only got bigger jobs left which means outlaying decent cash so wIting it out on them.
I'm mad keen mountain biker and was going every day until one bike needed a part returning under warranty which still isn't back (6weeks) and then week or so after other bike was stolen
So saturday I ran dales 3 peaks for the craic. No training and now I'm paying the price. Its pathetic viewing watching me get around the house. My son find its hilarious.

Re: Who is currently still off work?
Been furloughed since 23rd March. Just been told today, redundant from 31st July. Oh well, time to retire maybe.
Re: Who is currently still off work?
Been 'off' since 18th March when my daughter developed a new cough so we started isolating.
I run the online side of a DIY business so, doing that from home, after a 500% jump in demand, with a 3 month old baby and a two year old (who has been struggling with the isolation) in the house hasn't been easy. It's been 5:30am to 11pm days of work and childcare, 7 days a week for 11 weeks.
There's no end in sight to working from home but at least my daughter can go back to nursery now so I can work all day on those days and have the evenings off work.

You can't argue with a 500% jump in demand, unless initially only 1 person was interested.Fretters wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 9:30 pmBeen 'off' since 18th March when my daughter developed a new cough so we started isolating.

I'm another where lockdown has actually helped, with more people being at home and online.

Re: Who is currently still off work?
Been working through, in fact I started my new job one week before lockdown....luckily they moved our training to online training. Then once they had moved a whole heap of staff out to work from home we went back into the office for our 'Academy Training' now working from home full time.
The missus has also been working right through as she is a front line nurse practitioner at the RVI in Newcastle...been working on the covid hot wards!
