This messageboard
I know the real stuff is imminent, but just wanted to mention how much I have appreciated this whole set up throughout this lockdown.
The array of topics, advice, cut and thrust of debate, humour, music and films is often amazing.
I am not doing to badly, but my missus is a nurse and it has taken its toll these past 3 months.
I come on here a lot and either talk nonsense or try to engage sensibly occasionally.
I know we are all dealing with a myriad of issues day to day (virus or otherwise)
But I value all the contributions from all of you.
yes, its a big dollop of cheesy gibberish, but I am sober, and its heartfelt.
I genuinely wish you all the best of continued good fortune.
UTC, AND THANK YOU.

I would just like to mention RCC and Spot who have created Spot the Ball competition
Lot of work has gone into it.
Great fun and keeps everybody playing wanting more

Re: This messagboard
This message board has been a lifesaver at times for me over the last few weeks. There have been a couple of occasions when it’s not been as good as it should be but generally good people have kept things going with good threads and comments.

Re: This messageboard
Being an exiled Claret this board is my absolute lifeline - there is so much information available so that we can keep up to date with what is going on. Some of the non football stuff can be tedious but other topics are often really helpful and I look in several tines a day.

Re: This messageboard
I don’t really use any other social media so this is my go-to place for a lot of current affairs as well as sport.
For those people who don’t like the non-football threads I’d say be careful what you wish for though. If there was just football chat on this messageboard then I don’t think there would have been much traffic over the past few months. The diversity of topics has kept the messageboard seemingly as busy as ever without a ball being kicked. It’s always easy to ignore the threads that don’t interest you.

Re: This messageboard
There are so many reasons why boards like this are currently important.
1. Keeping social contact, of a type, during lockdown.
2. Discussing important issues for reassurance which are often misrepresented by politicians or media, and can lead to fear or misinterpretation.
3. It reminds us that life carries on, when many of us are isolating at home with no work and no face to face contacts.
We just need to keep things civil even if opinions disagree on emotional topics.

Re: This messageboard
Agree with the OP.
I don't post that much but read the board every day and on the whole enjoy the varied topics, information and debates as long as they're civil, after all it is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.
It's a shame when some posters feel the need to get a bit personal and spoil a decent thread with ridicule, insults, etc but I've found the 'foe' feature can be useful in those instances, especially in the Covid and political/brexit threads, (apart from when 'friends' keep quoting 'foes' in their replies )

Re: This messageboard
One of the best things about this board...as well as enabling us exiles to keep in touch with other Clarets and their thinking....is that I have found it a brilliant source of advice and recommendations on pretty much anything I've asked about e.g. travel destinations, books, films, TV, music, tradesmen, tech/gadgets ...you name it, its a great pool of knowledge (as well as nonsense at times)

Re: This messageboard
Not living in the UK, let alone in the Burnley area, the message board is my main source of Clarets news. Unfortunately, I get the dreaded forbidden at regular intervals when I can't access the board for three or four days on any device. It's during these periods when I lose touch with what's going on. When everything's working, I guess it gets taken for granted but to me it's an absolute necessity.

I feel this Messageboard is a reasonable representation for the Town itself. That’s why I’m spending increasingly less time on the former and in the latter.

Re: This messageboard
It's a lot better than some forums/message boards I've seen on the web, yes it has it's moments of daftness, but on the whole we can usually debate in a sensible manner.
What makes it so unique is the variety of topics discussed, variety is the spice of life as the saying goes, and if this resource was only dedicated to football, it wouldn't get the amount of traffic it does.
During the break posters have tried to eliminate the inertia, and posted a variety of topics, and the articles, jokes, nap league, quizzes, and spot the ball have helped during lockdown, i normally wouldn't be on here as much, i guess that applies to most of us.
Lastly we shouldn't forget the contribution that CT and the mods provide, without them this forum wouldn't function, and sometimes they have a thankless task.
Now that footy's returning we can hopefully get back to discussing that in the main, and the other current affairs will just be in the background, for people to dip into if they wish or not.
As other posters have mentioned if this wasn't here we would miss it, especially for those Clarets who don't live in the town, this message board allows everyone to come together, wherever they are in the world, and engage with fellow BFC enthusiasts.
