Fleetwood/Barton Playoffs live on Sky Sports
Fleetwood/Barton Playoffs live on Sky Sports
With the league now decided, Joey Barton's Fleetwood are in the playoffs.
All games being shown on Sky Sports
Love the bloke or hate him, he certainly played his part in Burnley winning the Championship and being promoted.
Good luck to Fleetwood Town, and Joey
Really enjoyed the Pre-season friendly in the sun at Highbury last year.

The Joey Barton at Burnley was first-class. I recall Danny Murphy saying something like "Sean Dyche knows the right buttons to push" when referring to Joseph Barton. And he did -and does.

Dyche showed his true man management skills when handling Joey, he went to Rangers and he never looked comfortable. Once he was back at Burnley even for his brief 2nd stint, he showed him important he was, and not forgetting his vital strike against Southampton.
Shame his Clarets career ended in the manner it did, and if(big if) he can curb his temperament, he'll interest bigger clubs than Fleetwood in time.

Where to? Palace & Villa have both been linked, but would either be a step up for him, he'd likely get a bigger salary, and possibly a larger transfer kitty.
But he'd be under increased pressure in either job, i guess it depends on how he views his potential to improve BFC, or if he considers he's taken us as far as he can.

Whether you like Andy Pilley and his input or not, it is surreal to see my old hometown club Fleetwood now challenging for a place in the Championship. Best of luck to the Cods and to Joey. Used to enjoy standing on the old railway sleepers and cinders at Highbury Avenue with my dad now and again back in the 70s

Yes great to see Joey doing well. In regards to Dyche, realistically how much further could he take us with such a limited budget, not a criticism of the board, that's what it is but an ambitious Dyche which I think he is will want to move on and test himself, but when, only Dyche knows.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 10:16 pmWhere to? Haven't people on here been saying that for some years though?beddie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 7:45 amYes great to see Joey doing well. Always fancied Joey to do well as a manager. Listening to his short podcast series he is clearly a deep thinker, into any philosophies that give him or his side the edge. he is a leader and a winner. And with character.
If and when the day Dyche moves on comes we could do worse. The press would want to see Joey fail. And would hound him. But siege mentality serves him and us well!

Joey's Fleetwood in the L1 play offs and Cheltenham (Duff) and Colchester (Mcgreal) in the L2 version. Good to see a few ex clarets doing well in management

If Dyche were to leave us in the near future, I would be happy to see Barton with Duff as his assistant take charge.
Re: Fleetwood/Barton Playoffs live on Sky Sports
I'm not keen on Fleetwood, they are pretty much a manufactured team, a rich person's plaything. Never been keen on any of those sort, there's too many about.

What happened to Barton’s assault charge? Did it ever get to Court?
I think JB would be a terrible appointment for BFC.

Initially the charge was due to be heard on 1st June but owing to Covid-19 it has now been re-scheduled to be heard in June, 2021 (to avoid the 2020/21 football season!).Middle-agedClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 4:46 pmWhat happened to Barton’s assault charge? Did it ever get to Court?

Barton is a poundshop Roy Keane. Might have the odd success early on in the lower leagues but will get found out quickly and end up as a rent-a-gob on talkshite

Re: Fleetwood/Barton Playoffs live on Sky Sports
Well, there's thinking it and applying it. A story of his life would indicate a lack of the latter at crucial times. We did well out of Joey Barton but for him to return for a third spell here would.presumably, satisfy the sentimentalists .............. at least for a while.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:24 amAlways fancied Joey to do well as a manager. He is an intelligent, thinking man, who knows football well.
