OUCH OUCH OUCH. RACIST RELIGOUS ZEALOT-you mentioned the C word or are you wanting it banned? Maybe I have not necessarily understood your post Billy Balfour. Oh and are you allowed that user name now given what that name has associated with in the past with regard to the PalestiniansBilly Balfour wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:24 amI know I've taken the pee on this thread and this is because the Permanently Angry are all over this, but in all honesty, you have to wonder where all this will end up.
Netflix has taken down The League of Gentlemen. The BBC hasn't and it's not like there isn't anywhere else to view this stuff, however, it's hardly the point. And yes, some people do get offended by blackface, mainly because of its history, but offended by Papa Lazarou?
Thing is, the Bristol slaver statue should have been taken down long ago and not by an angry demo in the middle of a pandemic. I've criticised the VE parties and those who flooded to crowded beaches along with those who don't think the lockdown rules apply to them - so the same goes for demos where social-distancing is impossible.
Anyway, all this has now taken on a life of its own and it looks like we're embarking on a kneejerk banning crusade. Not a good thing, no matter where you stand on the political spectrum.

Re: Little Britain
No, you're right. It isn't. White people in blackface is something that is quite rightly looked back on with disgust. Baffling to think that this dross was made relatively recently. The fact that it was also completely inane ******** dreamed up by the kind of people who think the height of comedy is putting a bloke in a dress, putting on a funny voice and having a catchphrase is beside the point.

Re: Little Britain
Fawlty Towers 'The Germans' episode to be taken off air now.
We're heading for a socialist dream country with maybe one channel like Ceaucescus Romania was and Hoxa's Albania. What a dull, boring society. No ownder the citizens of those countries wanted to leave.

No, we're not.
A channel catering purely for drama queens might be useful, mind.

Re: Little Britain
I'm guessing the Fawlty Towers episode was taken off the air because of the Major's spiel about Indian and West Indian cricketers rather than any references to the Germans.

Re: Little Britain
Porridge will be next on the hit list no doubt, plenty of non PC language in that, the Jocks get mentioned a lot, and it's homophobic as well apparently.
Fawlty Towers has apparently sold out on Amazon, so there's clearly still a demand for it.
Couple of interesting articles i came across.

Satire is clearly not appreciated by modern audiences, they don't understand your not supposed to take these classic shows literally, and that the butt of the jokes was the bigots themselves.

Attenborough not even immune, this is becoming nonsensical now, and it could be argued that some people are just nit-picking and being over-sensitive.https://uk.yahoo.com/news/attenborough- ... 7139.html

To be honest, these left wing yoghurt knitters really wind me up but that Love thy Neighbour sketch made for uncomfortable viewing.

Re: Little Britain
If the BBC are dictating what and how we watch programmes it's time they scrapped the license fee.
Re: Little Britain
Well the imposition of Asians bathing in a river whilst DA talks about the need for population control is rather apposite isn't it? Or maybe it should have shown suicide clinics in Switzerland as there are two ways to deal with this 1) see off the sick disabled and elderly who want to leave the planet-and I am guessing the numbers wanting this would be relatively small or 2) reduce population growth and as the Indo-chinese populations in Asia accounts fortiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 10:32 pmAttenborough not even immune, this is becoming nonsensical now, and it could be argued that some people are just nit-picking and being over-sensitive.https://uk.yahoo.com/news/attenborough- ... 7139.html
well over half the World's population it might be a good place to start although the Worlds highest birth rates are in Africa with around 5-7 births per woman in Countries from Tanzania to the DR of Congo.Whereas India is a tad over 2 and China less than 2 but likely to increase as they need more young to care for their old people
Population growth and the environment is rarely mentioned but if we do not fix it, nature will
