Merseyside Derby
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. The go ahead has been given to play this game at Goodison Park on June 21st, the result of which could see Liverpool definitely win the title.
Anyone think no fans will turn up outside?

Re: Merseyside Derby
Can't understand why this game is not rescheduled for the end of the season. The league will almost certainly be decided by then giving it less interest. If it is then a dead rubber and the authorities think there is a potential danger just cancel it with one point each.

Re: Merseyside Derby
I would have thought most fans would want to watch it at home or in the pub on tv.

Re: Merseyside Derby
The people who'll miss out most will be the young scallies who offer to "watch your car, mate?" when you park up.
Shelled out a few quid over the decades for that.
Although to be fair, that's not just Merseyside.

Re: Merseyside Derby
There will be some without doubt. Coventry fans were out in force yesterday afternoon and evening in the city centre after being crowned Champions of League One.

I think Liverpool will win the title on the Monday evening when we take a point at The Etihad.

Re: Merseyside Derby
It is a derby game. There is never less interest in an Everton v Liverpool fixture - any more than there would be more or less interest in us playing at EwoodPetersa wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 3:42 pmCan't understand why this game is not rescheduled for the end of the season. Sorry, our pubs are opening in Spain.
Re: Merseyside Derby
Liverpool fans are guaranteed to gather outside if they can potentially win the league. After thousands have attended these protests who can really argue with them? For their younger fans this will be the first time they've seen them win the league.

My fear is that the EPL gets suspended again before it's even got properly going. There's just too many bellends in this country.

Re: Merseyside Derby
Ok can accept there will always be great interest but if the title is possibly to be decided then it will be much much greater. If the game is put back that intensity can be reduced, if the title is already decided there is no real need to play the game, other than to give Sky pundits an opportunity to bore the pants off everyone! These are not normal times! Strange times can call for strange measures
Re: Merseyside Derby
No real need to play? So what, everyone else continues the season and finishes it apart from Liverpool and Everton? That makes no sense.Petersa wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 5:38 pmOk can accept there will always be great interest but if the title is possibly to be decided then it will be much much greater. Re: Merseyside Derby
It does seem bizarre that the authorities have worried about fans congregating outside grounds, even going so far as to suggest neutral venues, and then they do a complete u-turn and allow a Merseyside derby at Goodison where Liverpool could clinch the title.
I can't understand the logic behind this decision, i assume it's not down to TV, as all the games are going to be aired anyway.
I'll be amazed if fans don''t mass outside the stadium TBH. Especially given all the mass gatherings being allowed to assemble these last few days.

Re: Merseyside Derby
They’ll already be Champions by then, City won’t even beat Arsenal, and don’t we play City before that too...?

Re: Merseyside Derby
Allow the game to go ahead and emphasise fans should not turn up at Goodison, Anfield or others areas.
If fans do turn up in numbers, emphasise the need to stop whingeing about the Athletico game and the Government.

Re: Merseyside Derby
Doubt fans will be allowed anywhere near the 2 grounds. City centre will be a challenge though. Maybe it's best not to have Liverpool fans travelling to a neutral ground. Would you want a mass invasion of your town?
