M65
Not sure if there is another thread but WTF is happening with it apart from it appears nothing, 3 lanes into 1 and w4nkers zooming past queuing traffic trying to force their way in at the last minute, really pisses me off why not queue like other everybody else.

The people that slowly and safely driving past a que in another lane to fill up both lanes and to zip merge are following the highway code. Don't get angry at people following the rules.

There's plenty happening. We live quite near the motorway in Lowerhouse, and they make a proper noise it night. Deffinately some digging happening, and plenty of machines there. Can't wait till they're done.

They are installing new central barriers, apparently. Good timing with Accrington Road
closed to Junction 9.

So, so many people don't understand how flow rate works or in this instance control/flow lanes....SonofPog wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 8:29 pmhttps://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/driv ... p-merging/

Thank god the world has some half competent engineers....
Re: M65
The job wouldn't have needed doing if some 'bright spark' hadn't come up with idea of putting a brick wall down the centre of the motorway.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 10:53 pmThey are installing new central barriers, apparently. Good timing with Accrington Road

Re: M65
Someone has cost a lot of taxpayers money with this work being done and now reversed. I'd like a bit more info and see who has made the decision and have they been sacked?
Will be an external Contractors survey , hopefully never to work for any council again.

Re: M65
The Burnley to Nelson section is down to one lane with no sign of any work being carried out.
So is it to address the surface water flooding, which started after the concrete wall replaced the barriers in the central reservation?

For such a “short” motorway, it doesn’t half have its fair share of accidents
Thankfully I don’t have to use the M65 as much in the mornings but, since they removed the lights it’s been constant disruption & holdups.

Re: M65
the problem with slow merging is that cars in the perceived slower lane drive too close so as to stop people ''nipping in'' the cars in the nipping in lane drive at speed then nip in to a small gap and hit there brakes forcing all others to have to brake. on certain motorways there are signs saying start merging now sometimes up to 600 meters before closed lane if people did that at a constant slow speed with enough space ie maintain at least the ''only a fool breaks the 2 second rule'' and then allow merging cars in, then yes a constant flow would be maintained. but hey pre covid when I was in a hurry to get somewhere I too did nip in at the last minute and caused others to have to break hard, so to be honest do as I say not as I do !!!!

I wonder if it was Chris Grayling. He certainly has a good record when it comes to this sort of thing.
