Emptyhad v Clarets
Emptyhad v Clarets
Hi all,
Not seen anything official but is the below correct despite having so much time off?
"Sean Dyche will be without Ashley Barnes (hernia) for the trip to the Etihad while Chris Wood is a major doubt with an Achilles problem and Johann Berg Gudmundsson has had a calf issue."

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
That's what I have read somewhere. Hard to know what has gone wrong with Ash's hernia op unless has has a mesh fitted, but i thought those problems had been sorted.

Probably an excuse to not play his best side for a game that we're unlikely to win and to
save those players for games that we can win.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Is this the official match thread then?, i know we're eager, but your a bit sharp off the mark, we don't play until the 22nd.
Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Have you got a link for that?

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
I think young Matej is taking out the forwards one by one.
He can't afford to be warming up down the side when there aren't any fans to shout 'ger him on' to Dyche. He'd never play again.

Three months of doing sod all and getting paid a fortune and now it's finally time to play and they're "injured" - sack the lot of em.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Ash did an interview recently.
He was back training with the team and he said he felt something as soon as he started to up the training. I’m assuming just a niggle after being fairly inactive after an operation.
He did say he was aiming to be back to add to his tally before the end of the season. So I imagine he won’t be out too long.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Let's hope Chris Wood is back fit, i've personally written Barnesy off this season.
Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Personally worried about these showboating teams playing with real flair and us being safe and without the crowd to help not rising to it . Will be interesting to see what impact the lack crowd make on the matches and our own results after watching a few Bundesliga games where the pace of the match wasn't there.
Hope I am wrong as we were on one of the best runs I've seen in terms of results against top teams.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
I don't think we'd expect to get a result at City anyway, but yes the intensity of our performance will be interesting to see.
I don't watch the Bundesliga so i have no idea if that's the normal style of play in Germany, or it's due to the players not being at it 100%.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Another day in Germany dominated by away sides. Bayern were the only home team to win, and they needed a last minute winner.
Will be interesting for sure, a team like Sheff United who were having a great season could have completely lost all their momentum. Its basically a completely new 9 match season.

Do we play Joe in goal for him to have a chance to say goodbye ? Nothing to loose and he might have a blinder and get us the points

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
We go with our strongest available XI, and try and accumulate the most points we can, if we really hit form we even have an outside chance of Europe again.
Now if our ooc players don't want to play that's fine, but in that case we might as well release them at the end of June, if they don't want to play, then there's no point in us wasting wages on them, and as they won't be here next season, we may as well give players like brownhill a shot, surely the lad will be hungry to make an impression, and show he's up to the challenge of the PL.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
I'd say our template for playing is so robust that regardless of conditions, lack or crowd, circumstances etc. we won't see much drop in performance.
(Unless we are mathematically safe and can't finish in a European place, at which point our form will drop off the edge of a cliff! )

Who's Joe Hart going to say goodbye to? If we leave out Nick Pope isn't there a chance that we will all be saying goodbye to him?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:10 amDo we play Joe in goal for him to have a chance to say goodbye ? Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
I’d go 5 in midfield, try to stop them playing through us early doors. Stay tight and compact, then go to 4-4-2 when they make their inevitable changes, see if we can nick it. Think we need to pack the midfield to start with though.

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
Barnesy it still not quite right yet and Woody has a bit of a problem with his Achilles. We are waiting for more news on that,” Dyche told Clarets Player HD.
Jay Rod and Vydra are doing fine though.

Sky Pick (channel 11, freeview) Is showing this game on the planner for next Monday. Didn’t think it was one of the Sky Sports free games

Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
I think there is a sweepstake opportunity here as to when the board will fall over due to the number of users on it at the same time - I hope it has been bolstered up thee are likely to be more than the usual people interested in seeing the post match comment simply as their is not watering hole to stop off and talk to your mates about it
Re: Emptyhad v Clarets
All the media outlets were saying it was exclusively on Sky Sports too, so I was very surprised to see it listed on Pick. That would make our first 3 games back free to air.
