New Kits 20/21
New Kits 20/21
Noticed Bournemouth (kits manufactured by Umbro) have just released their home shirt for next season. Any word on when ours might be released? Any rumours on what design we have gone for, away shirt colour etc?

We’re always one of the last with next kits.
Re: New Kits 20/21
No we aren’t.
Re: New Kits 20/21
We often do our business late, everything needs to align with all parties, we can't just go out there and cherry pick the ones we want.

Will all have been sorted out months ago but we don't seem to ever rush getting kit out like we used to.

Not a fan of the Bournemouth kit - all the fading on the stripes, etc. Hope our kit clean and simple.

Re: New Kits 20/21
How long was the deal with Umbro?
Re: New Kits 20/21
I don't buy kits but I sometimes buy one of the training hoodies or sweatshirts to keep me warm when I'm playing sports during the winter.
The Umbro range is dire on these. Errea did some good ones when they used to manufacture our gear, but even Puma had some better offerings than what I saw last year.

Re: New Kits 20/21
Yes. There have been a couple of occasions when they've then had to put it back even further. An away kit was launched in 2016 when the team came out in it at Morecambe and two years ago we launched the white kit at Aberdeen.Alanstevensonsgloves wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:16 pmDid you ever bring this up with Dave Baldwin?
A lot of it is down to both manufacturer and sponsor in that we can't announce anything if either is changing without permission from those used previously.

Re: New Kits 20/21
You would have thought it has nothing to do with those used previously, unless the contract has a cease date, when the contract is up, it's up. If the contract expires 30/6 I could understand if we wanted to launch before that date, but from 01/07 the contract is no longer in place.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:40 pmwe can't announce anything if either is changing without permission from those used previously.

"Exactly" is a strong word having read what you've written several times.
It has nothing to do with "permission" it's about contract,
I would agree we would need "permission" if we were still within contract period, but that's not what you'd said exactly.

I think the kit will have a nod back to the 1920-21 season

What a great idea and tribute to the First Division Champions of 100 years ago.
Arguably the finest squad of players ever to represent Burnley Football Club.

Re: New Kits 20/21
Would be nice although they had to be pushed into having the 50th anniversary kit in 2009/10. Some senior staff decided they would change the colour of the shorts. When I found that out I asked Kilby to intervene which he did. I still think they were fantastic kits.

2009/10 kit was one of my favourite ever kits - possibly up there as my overall favourite with the V kit which was the first one ever bought for me.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 4:04 pmWould be nice although they had to be pushed into having the 50th anniversary kit in 2009/10. I liked the plain crew neck one which I picture Frank Casper in my mind - always wanted them to do a similar shirt to that - simple and classic but unfortunately these days you are likely to have a betting company sponsor which means it will never look quite as good.
Always think we missed a massive opportunity to go classic crew neck when we were with adidas - that would have been a lovely strip and instead we had awful strips when we were with adidas.

No. We don’t.
Re: New Kits 20/21
I read it as it’s exactly what CT was saying to the club when he was talking to them about it - not what he was saying on this thread.Barry_Chuckle wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 2:03 pm"Exactly" is a strong word having read what you've written several times.

Either way you are out of order with your comments - especially your daft follow up post.

Has there been any further news/rumours on when next season’s kits will be released?
Re: New Kits 20/21
So it's all down to 1 mans/woman's preference ? That surely can't be right.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 1:34 pmThat's a long time, what I was told was that someone influential didn't like them.

Would love to know. Since Sponsor and manufacturer are the same, would imagine we could release for last few games like other clubs are doing. Just an announcement would be nice!

Another vote for the famous hooped socks!!

20/21 shirt with no sponsor (other than possibly NHS emblem and £5 extra cost to be donated to charity) and I’d buy four.

Re: New Kits 20/21
Do the hooped socks present an issue in that they are twice as likely to clash with the opposition colour?
Re: New Kits 20/21
I can’t imagine that would be the issue.
We and other teams have and do wear them, and to avoid clashes, the second kit just needs to be different colours.

I've asked this before and forgotten the answer - wasn't there a season where the fans got to vote for the kit from a choice of three or something? And the fans voted for something hideous, like the quarters kit maybe?
