I prefer the old badge, although the existing is good also. Would love to see some of the kits use the original.
New Kits 20/21
Re: New Kits 20/21
I think our first monochrome badge appeared on this kit.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 8:25 pmA few years ago, might have been the tin foil kit, we changed the badge to match the shirt colour. The club confirmed it wouldn’t happen again but it has several times.
The badge should be the badge.

Even LancsLive are fed up of waiting now and have asked somebody to do a concept kit (at least it’s got the right sponsor & maker)

Re: New Kits 20/21
We didn’t really grow up with the badge now used. That was brought in following relegation in 2010. It is virtually identical to the old cost of arms we used to wear.
But whatever is our badge I believe that is what should be on the shirt, not one coloured to match the shirt.

Think the club missed a trick and should have at least canvassed fans on the badge change before it happened? personally much prefer the one on the left irrespective of we used to use the one on the right years and years ago. Bit of a bug bear of mine tbh.

I’d be in favour for a new badge to be honest...

When we are saying badge on the left or right are we talking when wearing it or looking at it?
I’ve always know it as on the left (wearing it) and I think most clubs have it there

Re: New Kits 20/21
Traditionally the badge is always worn on the left breast, nearer the heart. It used to symbolise pride and playing for the badge I believe. Not sure if there are any stipulations now though to enforce the badge's position these days.

Re: New Kits 20/21
None. It's in response to the photo posted earlier in the thread (on the previous page) the left was the badge used prior to 09/10, the right was the current badge. I agree that the fans should have been asked prior to any changes. I'm sure the belief was at the time that the badge was initially only for 1 season and was the coat of arms I believe but because of the PL exposure decided to keep a modified version of it.

I think I agree. I liked the sentiment of going back to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of winning the league, when the current crest was reintroduced, but I suspect if we hadn’t been promoted to the Premier League that season we might’ve reverted back to the previous badge.
A season in the top flight boosted the Burnley FC brand and changing back might not have been wise.

Re: New Kits 20/21
I prefer the monotone ones to be honest. Look far better than the coloured one on the home shirt. Never liked it. Wish we’d only had it for one year and reverted back to the we had, the one most of us grew up with.
Re: New Kits 20/21
When the Burnley/Bournemouth VAR handball fiasco happened, afterwards the PL said for the coming season all strips would have to adhere to the shoulder seam model (like Burnley's current strip) as a level playing field for making decisions.
This seems to have been abandoned, the strips for the next season that have been presented don't follow that guideline.
Strange...

2009 version had the latin phrase Pretiumque Et Causa Laboris
2010 version changes to Burnley Football Club which is what we now use

Re: New Kits 20/21
Wilks_bfc has answered it - because the shirts in 2009/10 were commemorative shirts for the 50th anniversary the club sought permission to use the old County Borough of Burnley Coat of Arms. In some ways it was a mistake because in the championship season of 1959/60 we hadn't worn any badge on the shirts although we quickly adopted that coat of arms afterwards.CardiffClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:32 amWasn’t that badge first brought in for our first Premier League season in 2009? It just happened to be our first ever season in the Premier League and the global exposure that gave us so the club, rightly or wrongly, decided to stick closely to that coat of arms but changed it to make it a BFC badge which we have used ever since. The previous badge had been the club badge from 1973 to 2010.

Re: New Kits 20/21
I had heard released for pre-order “mid August” and available “end of August” so all ties in. Next week it is then.
Think the club are leaving it so long so that fans feel like they’ve had their kits for two seasons and it’s time to swap!!

Although it didn’t appear on the home shirt until the 79/80 season, having first appeared on the yellow away shirt in 76/77.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:06 amWilks_bfc has answered it - because the shirts in 2009/10 were commemorative shirts for the 50th anniversary the club sought permission to use the old County Borough of Burnley Coat of Arms. Re: New Kits 20/21
It didn't - we initially had the all claret shirt with the BFC on it and then the V shirt.
Jack Butterfield introduced the badge simply so we could trademark it which, of course, we could never do with the coat of arms which then disappeared in 1974 with the reorganisation of local government.
Re: New Kits 20/21
With fans not spending on attending games I would have thought a bit of spare money would be available via Club shop.
Re: New Kits 20/21
I was too young in 1973 to be that interested in football so don’t know the history behind the 1973 badge. Who came up with the design?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:48 amIt didn't - we initially had the all claret shirt with the BFC on it and then the V shirt.

Re: New Kits 20/21
The incident happened, I wrote a letter saying in this matter, because of the diversity of physical nature, the arm/shoulder boundary is debatable without a football top on at all.
Therefore the approximation that sets a standard 'Pie' symbol close to what's needed, is like last season's Burnley top with an obvious shoulder/arm boundary.
They agreed inasmuch as that a rule change to standardize the debate was needed and that all tops for next season should have that design boundary.
They can't have electronic sensitive shirts because there may be a failure in the shirt deliberately or otherwise.
Now having seen the fayre from what's been posted, that rule looks to have been discarded, perhaps for Chinese betting i.e. more right/wrong decisions either way, with football being reduced to an in-play who-done-it for the kicks of Sichaun province or wherever this market demand has caused this to happen.
Football ceased to be a 'temple raid' sport.
If you look at a pitch layout, the Palladian domed architecture of the 'Temple' of the goal area as a perpendicular picture, with the centre spot the full moon in 'the god's' reflection upon seeing matter).
Now it's a forum for political judgement.
I prefer the sport to the political forum of judgement ruled over by Dial Square.

Taken from Turfcast’s twitter post. These are the new Panini collector cards for next season.
Although photoshopped onto an action shots from this season, the shirt looks a lot better in these pictures than the ones leaked previously.

So the leaked design was correct. The sleeves look awful but at least on VAR it will look less like a handball when Barnes takes the ball down on his chest.

That PSG shirt. With mebbe a claret and yellow stripe? That’s hot.
Re: New Kits 20/21
Oh dear. That shirt is diabolical, I can't think of anything nice to say about it which includes the neck, sleeves and logo. The only good thing is they have the colours claret and blue right. Hope fully the 2nd and 3rd strips will be an improvement, I doubt I'd even wear that shirt if it was given to me.

The quality, the design, the colour. I dont know how long the contract is but I hope they rip it up.

They will make any kit the club wants, the problem is the club rightly or wrongly will choose from the cheapest option of template kits.
But whilst people keep buying them then there's no real issue.
I've seen kits in the national leagues better designed and thought out than ours.
But that's the reason it's been about 14 years since purchased one to wear.
Saw this and purchased this instead.

It looks like I’m in the minority here but I like the shirt. Clean cut and traditional and the apparent nod to the 1920 kit with the collar line.

Re: New Kits 20/21
I hate this nod to an old kit. We used that a couple of years ago claiming when the home shirt was released and it was a nonsense. If you are going to recognise an achievement of the past then do a replica, not a nod, like we did in 2009/10, still the best selling shirts, home and away, we've ever had. For what it's worth, I think this looks awful and as for those sleeves.
Re: New Kits 20/21
The sleeves argument is an interesting one and I presume it’s in regards to the blue not covering the whole arm from the shoulder seam.
Compare the new kit to this one from the past. It’s something we’ve done before
