Post by Quickenthetempo » Sun Jun 14, 2020 11:54 am

Just seen this posted on FB

Sun Inn Chipping

1 hr ·
...
today I will be pouring away 22 gallons of guiness followed by 22 gallons of fosters and then 22 gallons of Stella.
if you would like any please bring your own containers with lids wait outside and I will happily fill them for you free of charge. please abide by social distance rules.
I will update this when I'm ready to dispense each brand so if you would like any, you come at the right time.

It would be nice if people gave a little donation like.

528 pints. Be nice if he gets close to a £1 a pint in donations.

Shame I'm back at work tomorrow, I'd have had the 22 gallons of Stella off him to see me through next week.

Unsubtle way of getting round the licensing laws; one of those that they just hope nobody cares enough to stop it.

Reminds me of a cricket club not too far from here (which I won't name in case they still do it) - they hadn't got a drinks licence, but the law does allow them games of chance with small prizes. So they ran a tombola - £1 a go - and if your ticket ended with any of the numbers 0 to 9, inclusive, you "won" a can of beer.

Not sure they need to get round any laws, plenty of boozers doing takeaways at the minute legally. Good advertising though!

Got to be out of date stock presumably purchased before compulsory closure & therefore non-refundable. Now in the case of Guinness (not the biggest seller in such a rural setting) - these kegs could have been there months prior to closure (kegs x 2 as it only comes in 11,s). Now folklore has it that Guinness does not travel well , equally it does not store well & I would anticipate several cases of semi - sloppy black stools for anyone taking up the offer.

My understanding was if beer was destroyed because it was out of date and there was evidence it had been destroyed the purchaser was not liable for the tax on that beer and could claim it back.

Therefore a simple video of the barrel being opened after the sell by date and the contents being poured away was worth quite bit of money, surprised the Sun Inn has been giving it away.
