Re: Steven Reid - Bolton
I'm not doubting your sources, but is that the same Steven Reid that's currently part of the Scotland national team backroom staff, seems strange he'd leave a decent position there, albeit in the background, for the train wreck that is Bolton, but i guess it's a management role, and they don't come around that often, he's got his work cut out there next season, but if he can make a fist of it, then bigger clubs might pay him heed i suppose.

Presumably being a Scotland coach is only a part time role.

Re: Steven Reid - Bolton
Can Bolton afford a full time coach/manager?, their finances can't be improving, and their main source of income gate receipts has gone by the wayside.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:55 pmPresumably being a Scotland coach is only a part time role.
They are exactly where they were in the late 1980's stuck in the 4th tier, meanwhile we are looking forwards to yet another season at the top table.
Re: Steven Reid - Bolton
A bit of a no lose situation at Bolton, they're going to be a big fish in that league next season, if he can get them in a promotion push he will be loved, and surely in line for bigger and better opportunities.
A bit like Phil Parkinson when he was at Beadford.
You've got to start somewhere, and regards fan base, facilities and stadium there's far worse places to be cutting your teeth.l in league 2
I think theyll walk that division next season personally.
Hopefully we can get some of our youngsters out on loan at these places where our ex players are managing.

Are you saying managing a Football League club would be a part time position ?tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 4:06 pmCan Bolton afford a full time coach/manager?, their finances can't be improving, and their main source of income gate receipts has gone by the wayside.

Re: Steven Reid - Bolton
It's a possibility some clubs might have to seriously consider if there's no fans allowed at games next season, wasn't that part of the reason Nigel Clough and his assistant left Burton to save the club money, that's the reality at the lower end of the league ladder, and i can''t see it improving anytime soon alas. So tough choices will have to be made, whether that's cutting the management structure, coaching staff, playing squads, will be for each club to make their own decisions, but i can't see how clubs can avoid making cost-cutting measures, at least until we get back to some form of normality, and fans can attend, and clubs can generate match-day income, that's the lifeline most clubs outwith the PL/Champ rely on to keep them ticking over.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 5:28 pmAre you saying managing a Football League club would be a part time position ?

I’m sure he’ll provide good banter for the dressing room as he provided for us.

Re: Steven Reid - Bolton
Bolton in dire straits undoubtedly to be relegated appoint Keith Hill.
Sack Keith Hill at the end of the season.
Keith Hill has spent the majority of his career in the lower divisions, with a modicum of success.
Bolton favourite for the job Steven Reid, with no experience of the third division.
Hope he takes them out of the football league.
