Sky Subscriptions
Sky Subscriptions
I, like many others paused my Sky Sports subscription when live football was curtailed and the monthly payments were duly reduced. Call me naive but I thought my subs would revert to their normal level once football resumed. However, it looks as though they are recouping the "paused" subs by taking over and above my normal monthly amount for at least the next 4 months. Before I make a real t*t of myself has anyone else encountered the same issue?
Re: Sky Subscriptions
That shouldnt be the case at all.
What makes you think they are charging you for the paused payments.
You can go into your mysky account and look at the estimated future bills you will get.

Re: Sky Subscriptions
I just opted to fully cancel, then I can reinstate it on my terms, I hold all the cards then and have the power.
I thought they'd be terms and conditions or small print.
I got stung before off virgin, so wasn't falling for something similar again.
Sky are usually top notch, so surprises me they'd try and hoodwink people, but these major companies are renowned for trying it on.
They'll most probably reimburse you or correct it if you question it.

Re: Sky Subscriptions
Just checked mine, bill back to £75 after 2/3 months at £50, seems about right to me.
Re: Sky Subscriptions
Mine also have just gone back to normal payment.
Could it be that your initial deal/ contract with them has expired and they have increased the subscription? Just a thought.

Re: Sky Subscriptions
Thanks for the replies. My pre pause payment was £44. This reduced for 3 months but my payments from June onwards will be £58! Better phone them then.
Re: Sky Subscriptions
That could well be the case! I should really be more aware of my contract expiry date. Mea Culpa. Thanks again for the replies!

Did you do that through Mysky Macca? You didn't bother phoning them? I'm going to cancel mine. I'm not interested in watching games with no spectators. No, rang them instantly and got ot immediately took off soon as the games got cancelled. They offered me 3 months suspension and other offers but if there was mo sport for however long, I didn't want to suspend, or use other things instead.
Ive since been in touch regards the internet ( yes i had nothing else to do whilst off work ) and due to such demand their broadband was struggling to cope so was lagging, extremely slow, sometimes cutting off completely for 5-10 seconds meaning work lost, sons xbox games ruined etc.
Once I rang them to see why they explained how much it had been effected with all of the country being at home and hammering the service etc.
They gave me £30 off my next bill as a good will gesture just for.
I thought that was excellent of them, and they've been great throughout with me.

Re: Sky Subscriptions
I cancelled after 20 years with Sky when the first of the postponements was announced and the cricket and golf were not going ahead.
They rung me last week and I told them I was not going to return as the prices had just increased over the years and never once had I been offered a discount on anything.
I am now a VIP diamond member and got the full Sky sports package for £28 a month, guaranteed for 18 months.
Give it a try if you have been with them for a while.

After trying (unsuccessfully) to call and a bout of shouting at inanimate objects I finally discovered, from a robotic voice, that my current contract expired in May hence the increase. I do not trust myself to negotiate a new contract via the app so will wait until they will take my call and I can speak to a human being. At the moment they are only accepting calls from people who are shielding or key workers. Good luck!!Sheedyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:08 amThanks for the heads up as mine seems off been paying 42 a month on pause but this month they have taken 58 with future payments set at 68....be ringing the dodgy feckers up after ..

Mondsley, you can call no problems. The only reason that message is on is to try and limit call flow for key workers and elderley but there is no problem with you calling, they will take your call as normal.Mondsley wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:43 amAfter trying (unsuccessfully) to call and a bout of shouting at inanimate objects I finally discovered, from a robotic voice, that my current contract expired in May hence the increase. Re: Sky Subscriptions
I advise everybody with Sky to keep a close eye on their bills, as they're a very sly company.
2 times, they've added things to my account without my say so, in the hope I didn't notice. One was something to screen incoming calls on my landline, yet I only have the line, I've never had an actual landline phone. Another, is they added Sky Cinema to my account - I rarely watch films, so would never have done it accidentally.
As I say, a very sneaky company, so be sure to check your bill every now and again.

Sorted!! Got through after about a 30 minute wait. Negotiated a new 18 month deal for £2 more than my old one. Appreciate the guidance from my fellow posters. I knew I could rely on you!

A new deal, paying £2 more than you were originally?
I'm sure it's better than it sounds. What do you receive, for how much? I'm on a rolling contract as well.
What number/department did you go through?

They've changed the structure of their packages now. I have signed up to Sky Signature, £25 per month and Sky Sports £21. I'm happy with the deal but I am sure someone will tell me I could have done better. Just rang the customer service number on the Sky website.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 11:54 am

Re: Sky Subscriptions
I'll be cancelling when our current contract ends. I can no longer be bothered with the silly dance you have to do when negotiating a new contract. Myself and two of colleagues have the same contract, yet we are all paying a different amount per month. Should be the same price for all, like when buying a loaf of bread from Sainsburys, but I suppose they make a lot more profit out of those who just take the hit when their contract lapses.

But its still the same 22 players playing on the same pitch. Doesn't change how they play in front of you. I'm with leisure on this one. I've watched some of the German games with the artifical crowd noise and its awful.clitheroeclaret3 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:11 pmNo fans = no atmosphere
Hoping they add some artificial crowd noise, its worked in Germany apparently
From a Burnley point of view, I don't want any crowd noise on my game. I want to hear what the players and management are saying to each other!!

This 'fake noise' is for our benefit - the people watching the game on television.
As far as I'm aware, the players playing tomorrow in the Prem won't hear it. It's a TV option.
Re: Sky Subscriptions
I agree Billy, to a degree. But it's the same rigmarole every year with your car insurance which I need to renew tomorrow. I appreciate with car insurance we all have differing products but the silly dance as you put it still has to be performed. My lucky week I think!Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:55 pmI'll be cancelling when our current contract ends. If anyone with Sky has got the full package (Variety, Films, Sport complete package and Sports HD), plus Sky talk line rental, plus Broadband Unlimited, would be interested to know what you pay?

I have everything you’ve listed, including multi room for £79.50 p/m. Renegotiated this a month or two ago and don’t think I’d have got any lower and didn’t want to faff around with cancelling and new subscription as they weren’t doing installations at the time.

Got everything including sky fibre and fibre boost, costs £82 pm.

I've been working throughout and have been put off by how long it takes to get through. I'm on leave this week so I'll defo be phoning them tomorrow. Fake cheering. Managers in the stands wearing masks. Physio looking like astronauts. Not for me I'm afraid. When football starts to resemble football again I will get in touch with Sky again and maybe reinstate it but until then......MACCA wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:39 amNo, rang them instantly and got ot immediately took off soon as the games got cancelled. I think you've missed the point of what I'm saying. I wasn't referring to the players I was referring to us watching at home. I don't see how a fake crowd noise is going to change what is happening in front of you apart from it creating a lot of falseness.
As an example. When Beckham scored from the half way line at selhurst, if you watch it on mute does it make the skill any less??
Re: Sky Subscriptions
In our paper Watford's Ben Foster said they had trialed crowd noise over the loudspeakers in a training game... all the players creased up when the chant "The Referee's a W**ker" rang out as did the assistant manager who was reffing the game...

I think that's the bottom line. You can't see it from that angle. That's perhaps what's so surprising, as I don't think there's much to see/understand.clarets1978 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:00 amI think you've missed the point of what I'm saying. It seems obvious why people have been saying that this has helped, but there you go.

Leisure;
Sky signature £17
Sky sports £15
Sky cinema £8
Sports HD £2
Sky HD £2
Multi screen £8.50
Ultra HD £0
Broadband super fast £27
Line rental £0
TOTAL £79.50
This is on an 18 month contract which was offered a couple of months ago. The sport was free until next month.
Bear in mind that they seem to only be able to apply offers rather than manually set prices for each item - don’t know how true this is - so it is unlikely you’ll get exactly the same deal.

Can anybody with Sky Q tell me if that means I'll need to buy 2 x Sky Q boxes?

This is correct, we have a 'toolkit' of offers available to the agent at the point of call. The issue is with trying to compare packages is that you are often comparing oranges with apples due to offers changing regularly and are linked to the packs you include in your package...
