Re: Villa v Blades
I bet taking a knee on kick off triggered a few.
Re: Villa v Blades
Must admit I opened this thread expecting it to be all about the players taking the knee at the start of the game!

Why isn't VAR being used for that?

That's well over the line, surely?
Re: Villa v Blades
Ball was definitely over the line, so much for technology. Ref obviously forgot to pick up the wife's vibrator when he packed his match bag

Ball well over the line yet no goal given

Technology fails in the first game back... mile over the line. How has VAR not intervened there.

Re: Villa v Blades
I wonder whether the sensor on the bar or posts hasn’t been turned on? Otherwise they would show the goal line tech graphic.
Re: Villa v Blades
VARs had enough grief without getting involved with goal line technologies **** up
Re: Villa v Blades
Yep deffo a goal for me, tech fails .... Not switched on?

Re: Villa v Blades
Electrician says it was either crowd noise or goal sensors but not both!
They chose crowd noise but didn't let on!
Goal!!!!!

Re: Villa v Blades
Clearly some kind of blind spot regarding the post/behind the post.
And VAR can't step in and overrule a system that already exists for that specific reason. Can only be looked at after this game.

Re: Villa v Blades
Question mark about whether the WHOLE of the ball had crossed the WHOLE of the line. The majority was certainly behind the post but was ALL of it?

Re: Villa v Blades
The fact that they didn’t show the graphic that is automatically generated on goal line incidents tells me that the technology has either failed completely or isn’t switched on.

Re: Villa v Blades
That’s interesting they didn’t show the usual goal line image “no goal” and graphic......
Someone’s in for it!

And this is what we've been desperate for for the last few months according to the media. Think I'll ask Sky for a refund under the trades descriptions act

Re: Villa v Blades
I thought the match was alright tbh. It’s a match that doesn’t really matter (I know we can finish higher and want Utd to lose) but realistically it won’t make a huge difference. It’s a 6pm Wednesday game in June. We used to international tournaments, crowds, big games this time of year. It’s a flat with no real fans there. But the actual football was okay tbh.

Re: Villa v Blades
I’m not saying there’s definitely a link between the two but goal line technology was flawless before Dominic Cummings took a trip to Barnard Castle.

Re: Villa v Blades
The keeper had the ball in his hands, clutched to his chest, with his arm leaning on the rear side of the post. It surely couldn’t have been anything other than over the line.

clearly over the line by at least 2 inches

Villa are fighting relegation and Sheff United could get into Europe.

Re: Villa v Blades
Apparently because it is the same passage of play when the keeper rolls the ball out, after the incident. It can go to VAR and it could over rule GLT but they didn’t bother with that either.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 6:51 pmClearly some kind of blind spot regarding the post/behind the post.

Re: Villa v Blades
We've waited 3 months for this and it's taken them 40 minutes to balls it up !!!!
You couldn't make it up.
You couldn't make it up.
Re: Villa v Blades
Sorry - see what you mean now
To be fair, I suspect that this will have pretty big viewing figures, it being the first game back. Perhaps far more interest in the game than there usually might have been, outside of the fans of each team.
